KJ was a great host. Kind, responsive, and attentive throughout the process. He took the time to answer all of my questions and made pickup and drop-off quick and easy. I especially appreciated that he didn’t charge unnecessary generator fees, which let us focus on enjoying the trip instead of worrying about usage time. Overall a smooth experience and I would definitely rent from him again.

Loved our experience with Sandy from start to finish. He communicated very well, including letting us know about the need to reserve a campsite ahead of time. The camper was very well stocked with kitchen items. The beds were soft and well prepared. They met us when we arrived to set up the RV and explain everything. The weather was very cold and so the water froze one morning. Sandy came right over within minutes and helped us get it going again. Very nice people and very honest. There were extra things we had ordered that we didn’t need so he offered to takeoff those charges. We would absolutely come back and use them again. We were a family with small children and they even agreed that it felt like home. Thank you for a great experience!

The host/owner is great and was responsive to multiple messages and calls. I had some problems with the outlets and heat, but some of the problems were user error and KJ will look into the intermittent electrical problem. Nothing impacted the fun factor of my short trip to Zion National Park, which was spectacular this time of year. The van made visiting the park and staying at a campground so enjoyable. We had a nice home base but could easily pull over to enjoy the views and make a hot meal or sandwich. Total game changer. The van would be tight for more than two people but it was perfect for me. It drives like an SUV, not like a big camper or RV. I'd happily rent from KJ again.

RV rental in Colorado City is surprisingly affordable, especially given how close you are to Zion, Bryce Canyon, and the Grand Canyon's North Rim. Travel trailers typically run around $120 per night, while motorhomes average about $200 per night on RVezy. Many hosts offer 10 to 20 percent discounts on weekly or monthly stays, which is the easiest way to score a cheap RV rental in Colorado City for a longer national park loop. What license do I need to rent an RV in Colorado City, Arizona?

Good news: a standard driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Colorado City. Arizona does not require a commercial driver's license (CDL) or any special endorsement for personal-use motorhomes, campervans, or travel trailers rented on RVezy. You'll need to be 25 or older, and RVezy verifies your ID right through the platform during booking, so there's no extra paperwork at pickup. Visiting from outside the US? Grab an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your home auto club before your trip and you're set. Most first-time renters are amazed at how simple Arizona makes it.

Is my RV rental in Colorado City covered by protection and roadside assistance?

Yes, every RV rental in Colorado City booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can head toward Zion or the Grand Canyon's North Rim with real peace of mind. You select your coverage level at checkout (not the host), and the protection plan helps cover damage to the RV during your trip. What if I need to cancel my Colorado City RV rental?

You can book your RV rental in Colorado City with confidence. RVezy (not the host) sets the cancellation policy, and there is a money-back grace period right after booking so you have time to finalize your plans. If something unexpected comes up before your trip, like a winter storm closing the road to Zion or a family emergency, refund eligibility depends on how far out you are from your start date. Full details are in the RVezy Help Center, and the RVezy support team is available to help if plans change.

Can I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Colorado City?

Yes, pet-friendly RV rentals in Colorado City are easy to find on RVezy, just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter when you search. Many hosts welcome dogs at no extra cost, and some even leave bowls and beds for your pup. Once you're on the road, your dog will love the open spaces around the Arizona Strip. Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park (about 25 miles north) allows leashed pets, and Kaibab Paiute RV Park has plenty of room to stretch four legs. Note that Zion National Park only allows pets on the Pa'rus Trail, so plan longer dog hikes on nearby BLM land.

You're parked at one of the best basecamps in the Southwest, so an RV road trip from Colorado City puts world-class destinations within easy reach. Zion National Park's east entrance is about 45 miles (roughly an hour), Bryce Canyon is about 90 miles, the Grand Canyon's North Rim is about 150 miles, Lake Powell at Page is around 165 miles, and Capitol Reef is about 175 miles. Where are the best campgrounds near Colorado City for RV camping?

You're spoiled for choice when it comes to RV camping near Colorado City. Water Canyon RV Park in Hildale sits at the base of the red Vermilion Cliffs with full hookups and laundry. Kaibab Paiute RV Park, about 30 miles south on the reservation, offers full hookups next to Pipe Spring National Monument. Heading toward Zion, Zion River Resort in Virgin and the St. George/Hurricane KOA Journey are popular full-service options. Pro tip: book your Zion-side sites 3 to 6 months ahead for spring and fall, since they fill faster than the Colorado City-side parks.

When is the best time of year to rent an RV in Colorado City?

The sweet spot for an RV trip in Colorado City is spring (April through May) and fall (September through October), when daytime highs run a perfect 65 to 80°F and the red rock light is at its best. Summer (June through August) climbs into the upper 80s and low 90s, which is still very doable with the RV's AC running and shoulder-season pricing is still available in early June. Winter is genuinely cold here at 5,000 feet of elevation, with January highs around 44°F, lows near 28°F, and occasional snow. If you love quiet parks and don't mind layers, winter Zion trips are stunning.

I've never driven an RV before. Will I be okay around Colorado City?

You're going to do great, and this region is actually one of the easier places to learn. Highway 389 through Colorado City is wide, lightly trafficked, and mostly flat, giving you room to get comfortable before tackling bigger drives. Every RVezy host provides a hands-on orientation at pickup, walking you through the slide-outs, water systems, propane, and dump procedure so you're not guessing. If you're nervous, message the host before booking with any questions, or pick delivery so your first time renting an RV starts at a campsite instead of on the road. Avoid Zion's Mt. Carmel Tunnel in vehicles over 11'4
nps.gov/zion/planyourvisit/the-zion-mount-carmel-tunnel.htm

What happens if something goes wrong with the RV during my trip?

You're never on your own. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, so a flat tire on Highway 89, a dead battery at Coral Pink Sand Dunes, or a lockout at Kaibab Paiute RV Park is one phone call away from help. For mechanical questions or how-do-I-use-this moments, your host is your first lifeline and usually responds within minutes via the RVezy app. RVezy customer support is also available before, during, and after your trip. The nearest larger service hubs are St. George, Utah (about 35 miles west) and Kanab (about 40 miles east).

Can I take my Colorado City RV rental into Utah or across the country?

Yes, and you'll want to, because the Arizona-Utah border is literally at the edge of town and the best scenery is on both sides. Most hosts allow cross-state travel throughout the continental US, including the loop through Zion, Bryce, Capitol Reef, and Arches. Many also allow travel into Nevada and Colorado for longer trips. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance and protection coverage doesn't extend across that border. Always check the listing's travel area or message the host before booking to confirm your route. Most renters from Colorado City cross into Utah within the first hour of their trip, no problem.
cbp.gov/travel/us-citizens/know-before-you-go

What kind of fuel mileage should I budget for an RV trip from Colorado City?

Plan your fuel budget realistically and you'll have more to spend on the fun stuff. Class C motorhomes typically get 8 to 12 miles per gallon (MPG), Class A rigs around 6 to 10 MPG, campervans 14 to 20 MPG, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle (usually 10 to 14 MPG combined). Gas in the Colorado City and Hildale area tends to run a bit higher than St. George, so most savvy renters fill up at the Maverik or Chevron stations on the Utah side before heading back into Arizona. For a 500-mile Zion-Bryce-North Rim loop in a Class C, budget roughly $200 to $275 for fuel.

How far ahead should I book campgrounds for my Colorado City RV trip?

Book early and you'll thank yourself later. Sites at Zion's Watchman Campground are reservable up to 6 months in advance through Recreation.gov and fill within minutes for spring and fall weekends. Bryce Canyon's North and Sunset Campgrounds also book 6 months out. For private parks like Water Canyon RV Park, Zion River Resort, and Kaibab Paiute RV Park, 2 to 3 months ahead is usually plenty outside of holiday weekends. Pro tip: if you strike out at Watchman, check Recreation.gov daily at 10 a.m. Eastern for cancellations, they pop up constantly. BLM dispersed camping on the Arizona Strip is free and first-come, first-served year-round.
recreation.gov/camping/campgrounds/232445

What are driving conditions like around Colorado City?

Driving here is mostly easygoing, but a little local knowledge helps. Highway 389 between Fredonia and Hurricane is a smooth, scenic two-lane with light traffic, perfect for getting comfortable in a bigger rig. Watch for sudden crosswinds on the open stretches near the Vermilion Cliffs, especially in spring afternoons. Approaching Zion from the east on Highway 9, RVs taller than 11'4" or wider than 7'10" need an escort through the Mt. Carmel Tunnel (a $15 fee, paid at the entrance). In winter, the higher elevations toward Bryce can ice over, so check Arizona 511 and Utah's UDOT travel app before you roll. Otherwise, sunshine and big-sky cruising.
az511.gov/

What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Colorado City?

You'll find a great mix of options. Full-hookup parks like Water Canyon RV Park, Zion River Resort, and Kaibab Paiute RV Park offer 30/50 amp electric, water, sewer, hot showers, laundry, and often Wi-Fi and a pool. National Park campgrounds like Zion's Watchman have electric hookups at some sites but no sewer, with a dump station on-site. BLM dispersed sites on the Arizona Strip are free and primitive (no hookups, no water). For dumping and filling fresh water between stops, the Pilot in Hurricane, Utah, and the Maverik in Kanab both have dump stations. Pro tip: top off your fresh tank whenever you can, water sources get sparse near the North Rim.
nps.gov/zion/planyourvisit/watchman-campground.htm

What's typically included inside a Colorado City RV rental?

You're going to love how turnkey these rigs are. Most motorhome and campervan rentals in Colorado City come fully equipped with a kitchen (fridge, stove, microwave, sink, cookware, dishes), a bathroom with toilet and shower, comfortable beds with linens, AC and furnace, and a dinette that converts to extra sleeping. Larger Class A and Class C rentals usually include a TV, and many have a generator for off-grid camping near Coral Pink Sand Dunes or on the Arizona Strip. Seatbelts for everyone traveling is standard, just confirm the sleeps-and-seats count on the listing matches your group. Wi-Fi via host-provided hotspot is offered by some hosts as an add-on.

What add-ons and pickup options should I expect when I rent an RV in Colorado City?

Hosts make it easy to customize your Colorado City RV trip. Popular add-ons include bedding and linen packages ($25 to $75), kitchen kits, outdoor camp chairs and tables, generators ($25 to $50 per day), bike racks, and propane refills. Many hosts offer RV delivery to local campgrounds or to your driveway for a flat fee, plus optional dump-and-fill service so you can hand back the keys without chores. Mileage policies vary, some listings include 100 to 150 free miles per night while others offer unlimited mileage, so always check before booking. Pickup is usually a 60 to 90 minute orientation at the host's location, with the same walkthrough in reverse at return.
azdot.gov/motor-vehicles

How does payment and the security deposit work on an RVezy rental?

Payment is simple and secure. Everything runs through the RVezy platform, so you never hand cash to a host. You pay for your booking with a credit or debit card at checkout, and most rentals require a refundable security deposit (typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV) that is held separately from your booking payment. The deposit is released after your trip ends, assuming the RV is returned in the same condition. To avoid holds, take timestamped photos at pickup and dropoff, return with fuel and propane levels matching pickup, and respect the mileage and generator-hour policies on your listing.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-works

How should I prep for cold weather if I rent an RV in Colorado City in winter?

Winter RV camping in Colorado City is genuinely magical. The red cliffs dusted with snow are unforgettable, and you'll often have Zion to yourself. With January highs near 44°F and lows around 28°F at roughly 5,000 feet of elevation, you'll want an RV equipped for cold. Look for listings that mention heated and enclosed holding tanks, a working furnace, and the ability to connect to shore power for continuous heat. Water Canyon RV Park stays open year-round with full hookups, which makes it the easiest winter base. Pro tip: ask your host about adding a small ceramic space heater, and dump tanks before any hard freeze.
