Located just an hour and a half south of Grand Canyon National Park, Flagstaff is a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts. With four seasons of camping weather, scenic trails, and a wide range of restaurants and breweries, it's no wonder Flagstaff is one of the most popular RV destinations in Arizona. The best time to rent a camper in Flagstaff is from early June to the end of August when temperatures range between 70 and 85 degrees. To avoid the rush of tourism that comes with the summer months, we'd recommend planning a fall visit. From September through November, you'll be able to take in nature as the leaves change, the air cools, and the summer crowds dwindle.

This Arizona city is no sleepy town. From the Lowell Observatory to the Flagstaff Brewery Trail, there's something to do everywhere you look.
The Lowell Observatory is the perfect place to see the stars. With six advanced telescopes on the Giovale Open Deck Observatory, multimedia shows, and exhibits, you'll gain a whole new appreciation for the sky above. As one of the oldest observatories in the country, a short drive from downtown and with ample parking, it's a must-see. After you've looked up at the stars, take a look into the past at the Museum of Northern Arizona. Native American culture is a big part of Flagstaff and the museum is a wealth of knowledge for the history and culture of Native Americans. This educational stop also hosts various Native American Art and Culture festivals throughout the year, showcasing award-winning art, dancing, and lectures about the Indigenous people of Northern Arizona.
Shifting gears from culture and education to hiking and outdoor exploring, Grand Canyon National Park and Buffalo Park are great stops to add to your itinerary. The Grand Canyon is about 90 minutes from downtown Flagstaff, and luckily, there are shuttles you can take to get there. Once you arrive, make a day trip out of it by embarking on a hike or rafting inside the canyon. For those who prefer a more laid-back excursion, walking the southern rim provides unforgettable views. Buffalo Park is a 215-acre park perfect for a picnic in the grass, wildlife viewing, and a 2-mile walking loop. The surrounding areas are home to many national monuments that are definitely worth the drive. Try out Flagstaff Extreme Adventure Course, located in Fort Tuthill County Park. This outdoor adventure course has you doing a mixture of obstacles and zip lining for all skill levels.
Your group will find nightly live entertainment at well-known venues such as the Orpheum Theatre, originally an old movie theatre, and Pepsi Amphitheater in Forthill County Park. Flagstaff is the designated Craft Beer City of Arizona and the city certainly lives up to it with multiple microbreweries that make up the Flagstaff Brewery Trail. Pick up a passport and a map that will guide you to all nine breweries and mark them off as you go. Take your time taking in the natural beauty of the city, enjoying a new twist on an old favorite or perhaps something you've never tried before.

There is no shortage of awesome Flagstaff RV campgrounds for you to call your home away from home. For a campground that provides more than just a place to park your RV, look no further than Woody Mountain Campground. They have an on-site restaurant and a general store offering groceries, local beer, wine, and a camp cafe for your morning caffeine fix. Start your days off right by exploring the on-site trail with a freshly brewed coffee in hand. When you are ready to take the 6-minute drive into Flagstaff, their knowledgeable staff will be happy to point you in the right direction.
Mormon Lake Lodge RV Park and Campground is another great option. Along with all-weather surface parking sites, you'll find a gas station, country store, and post office on-site. On top of camping right on Mormon Lake, you get access to many outdoor activities to partake in, from basketball to horseshoes, a jungle gym for kids, and a seasonal petting zoo.
Looking for a family-oriented RV park? Look no further than Flagstaff KOA. The mountain campground, set at the foot of San Francisco Peaks, is big-rig friendly and offers shaded patio sites for those warm summer days. You'll be among the beautiful Ponderosa trees at this pet-friendly option that has all your basic needs covered.
Bonito RV Park located in Coconino National Park is a small, very simple campsite with limited cell service that truly feels like an escape. There are plenty of trails and hiking options in the surrounding area and the site is close to the Wupatki National Monument and Sunset Crater National Monument. This RV campground is first-come, first-serve, but if you get there in time to snag a spot, there are options for both big and small RV sites with a fire pit and barbecue. Although Bonito makes you feel like you're way off the grid, it's only a 30-minute drive into town.
Fort Tuthill County Campground is another option for the nature-lover who is looking for a rustic camping experience. This Flagstaff campground offers full hookups and the ability to reserve ahead to ensure you're all set before your RV rental arrives on-site. It's located just minutes outside of Flagstaff and all the major attractions.
