KJ was a great host. Kind, responsive, and attentive throughout the process. He took the time to answer all of my questions and made pickup and drop-off quick and easy. I especially appreciated that he didn’t charge unnecessary generator fees, which let us focus on enjoying the trip instead of worrying about usage time. Overall a smooth experience and I would definitely rent from him again.

Loved our experience with Sandy from start to finish. He communicated very well, including letting us know about the need to reserve a campsite ahead of time. The camper was very well stocked with kitchen items. The beds were soft and well prepared. They met us when we arrived to set up the RV and explain everything. The weather was very cold and so the water froze one morning. Sandy came right over within minutes and helped us get it going again. Very nice people and very honest. There were extra things we had ordered that we didn’t need so he offered to takeoff those charges. We would absolutely come back and use them again. We were a family with small children and they even agreed that it felt like home. Thank you for a great experience!

The host/owner is great and was responsive to multiple messages and calls. I had some problems with the outlets and heat, but some of the problems were user error and KJ will look into the intermittent electrical problem. Nothing impacted the fun factor of my short trip to Zion National Park, which was spectacular this time of year. The van made visiting the park and staying at a campground so enjoyable. We had a nice home base but could easily pull over to enjoy the views and make a hot meal or sandwich. Total game changer. The van would be tight for more than two people but it was perfect for me. It drives like an SUV, not like a big camper or RV. I'd happily rent from KJ again.

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Hurricane, UT

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Hurricane, UT?

RV rental in Hurricane is affordable compared to traditional Zion lodging, with most travel trailers starting around $90 to $150 per night, Class C motorhomes around $175 to $275, and Class A rigs from $300 and up. Because hosts set their own pricing on RVezy, you can filter by budget and find a cheap RV rental in Hurricane that fits a spring break or shoulder-season Zion trip. To save more, book mid-week (Sunday through Thursday), travel in March or November when Zion crowds thin, and look for hosts offering weekly discounts. Pro tip: bundling delivery to your campsite often costs less than the fuel and stress of driving an unfamiliar rig through the Virgin River Gorge yourself.

What license do I need to rent an RV in Hurricane?

Good news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Hurricane, whether you are picking up a campervan or a 32-foot Class C. Utah does not require a commercial driver's license or special endorsement for personal-use motorhomes, so a standard license from any US state or Canadian province works. RVezy approved renters are generally 25 or older, and the platform verifies your ID during booking so there is no extra paperwork at pickup. Visiting from overseas? Bring an International Driving Permit from your home auto club along with your home-country license. Most first-time renters are surprised how simple the process is.

Is my RV rental in Hurricane protected if something goes wrong?

Yes, every RV rental in Hurricane booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can head out on Highway 9 toward Zion with real peace of mind. You choose your protection level during checkout (not the host), so coverage matches your comfort and budget, and the plan covers most physical damage to the vehicle. If you get a flat on the way to Sand Hollow State Park or need a jump at Watchman Campground, one call dispatches help any time of day or night. It is not auto insurance, but it removes the biggest what-ifs that hold first-time renters back.

What if I need to cancel my Hurricane RV rental?

Booking is low-risk: RVezy (not the host) sets the cancellation policy for every reservation, including a money-back grace period right after you book so you can lock in a Zion trip with confidence. After that window, refunds depend on how far out you cancel from your trip start date. You will not see a cancellation policy on individual listings because it is handled platform-wide, the same for every rental. If a host needs to cancel, RVezy refunds the guest or provides travel credit. If your plans shift, contact RVezy support and they will walk you through your options. That flexibility is one reason travelers feel comfortable booking a Hurricane RV trip months in advance.

Can I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Hurricane?

Absolutely, pet-friendly RV rental Hurricane options are plentiful, just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy and you'll see dozens of rigs whose hosts welcome dogs (some allow cats too). Hurricane is genuinely dog-loving territory: WillowWind RV Park has an off-leash area and dog wash, Zion View RV Park is pet-friendly, and the Hurricane Cliffs BLM trails just east of town are leashed-dog heaven with sweeping mesa views. Inside Zion National Park itself, the only pet-friendly trail is the paved Pa'rus Trail along the Virgin River, so plan day trips to BLM land or Snow Canyon State Park (dogs allowed on most trails) for longer hikes. Pack a collapsible bowl, the high-desert sun is no joke for pups.

Can the RV be delivered to my campsite in Hurricane?

Yes, RV delivery in Hurricane is one of the most popular options on RVezy, especially for first-time renters nervous about towing or maneuvering a big rig on Highway 9 through Springdale. Many local hosts will deliver to Sand Hollow State Park, Quail Creek State Park, Watchman Campground inside Zion, or even a private vacation rental driveway, then level the rig, hook up water, sewer, and electric, and walk you through every system before handing over the keys. Delivery fees are set by the host and commonly range from a few dollars per mile to a flat fee within Washington County. Use the Delivery filter when searching, and message the host with your exact site number so setup is seamless when you arrive.

How far can I drive on a Hurricane RV trip, and is unlimited mileage available?

You have plenty of range for a classic Hurricane RV trip, and RV rental with unlimited mileage is available from many hosts (look for the Unlimited Miles badge on listings). Most hosts include 100 to 150 free miles per night, with extra miles at roughly $0.30 to $0.50 each, which is generous given how close the headliner sights are: Zion's South Entrance is about 22 miles east, Bryce Canyon roughly 85 miles northeast, the North Rim of the Grand Canyon about 160 miles south, and Las Vegas around 125 miles southwest. If you are planning a wider Grand Circle loop hitting Capitol Reef or Lake Powell, unlimited mileage is the smarter pick. Message the host to confirm mileage before booking.

Where are the best campgrounds near Hurricane for an RV trip?

You're spoiled for choice with best campgrounds near Hurricane, and most have full hookups so you'll never go without AC in the desert heat. Top picks include WillowWind RV Park (shady, walkable to groceries, 30 minutes from Zion), Zion View RV Park (full hookups, pet-friendly, free Wi-Fi), and St. George/Hurricane KOA Journey (heated pool, pickleball, closest KOA to Zion). For state park camping, Sand Hollow State Park's Westside Campground offers lakeside full-hookup sites with red-rock views, and Quail Creek State Park has year-round waterfront sites just 5 miles west of town. Inside Zion, Watchman Campground takes reservations on Recreation.gov up to 6 months ahead. Book Sand Hollow and Watchman as early as possible, they fill fast March through May.

When is the best time to take an RV trip to Hurricane, UT?

The sweet spot for RV camping Hurricane is mid-March through mid-May and again from mid-September through early November, when daytime highs sit in the 65 to 85°F range and nights are cool and comfortable for sleeping. Summer (June through August) brings sweltering highs of 95 to 105°F, perfect if you want to float Sand Hollow Reservoir but tough on the RV's air conditioner during the day. Winter (December through February) is mild compared to most of Utah, with highs in the 50s and only light occasional snow at Hurricane's 3,200-foot elevation, making it a great quiet-season escape. Local insider tip: April wildflowers across Snow Canyon and Zion are unforgettable, and the crowds haven't peaked yet.

I've never rented an RV before, will I be okay driving in southern Utah?

You'll be just fine, first time renting an RV in Hurricane is one of the friendlier places to start because roads here are wide, well-maintained, and relatively flat around town. Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on orientation at pickup, walking through the generator, slide-outs, leveling, propane, water systems, and dumping, plus most leave a printed cheat sheet and a phone number for questions mid-trip. Stick to Interstate 15, State Route 9 to Zion's South Entrance, and the route to Sand Hollow for your first day, and avoid the Zion-Mt. Carmel Tunnel in larger rigs (oversized vehicles need a $15 permit and one-way escort). Take it slow, the speed limit drops to 35 mph in Springdale anyway.
nps.gov/zion/planyourvisit/the-zion-mount-carmel-tunnel.htm

What happens if I break down during my Hurricane RV trip?

You are never on your own: 24/7 roadside assistance is included with every RVezy booking, so one call connects you with help whether you are parked at Watchman Campground, on the BLM road to Hurricane Cliffs, or coasting down the Virgin River Gorge on I-15. Service typically covers tire changes, jump-starts, fuel delivery, lockouts, and towing. Cell coverage is solid in Hurricane, La Verkin, Springdale, and along I-15, though it gets spotty deep in Zion's backcountry, so download offline maps before heading out. Your host is also a quick text away for vehicle-specific questions like resetting the inverter or relighting a pilot. Most issues get sorted quickly so you can get back to the red rocks.

What are the best RV road trips from Hurricane?

An RV road trip from Hurricane is one of the most scenic in the country, and you're sitting at the gateway to Utah's Mighty 5 plus the Grand Canyon. Top routes include: Zion National Park South Entrance (22 miles, 30 minutes), Bryce Canyon National Park (90 miles, under 2 hours via SR-9 and US-89), the North Rim of the Grand Canyon (160 miles, 3.5 hours, open mid-May through mid-October), Las Vegas (125 miles, 2 hours via I-15), and Lake Powell at Page, Arizona (155 miles, 3 hours). Cross-state travel within the US is fully covered. Heads up: trips into Mexico are not allowed on RVezy rentals, and Canada trips require advance host approval. Build in extra time for photo stops, you'll want them.
visitutah.com/places-to-go/most-visited-parks/the-mighty-5

What kind of fuel mileage should I budget for, and where do I fill up?

Plan for realistic numbers: Class C motorhomes average 8 to 10 mpg, Class A gas rigs around 6 to 8 mpg, travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle (usually 10 to 14 mpg), and campervans hit 16 to 20 mpg. Utah gas prices typically run a bit higher than the national average, so budget around $4.00 to $4.50 per gallon when planning. Hurricane has multiple RV-friendly fuel stops, including Maverik and Chevron on State Street with pull-through lanes, plus a Pilot/Flying J in nearby St. George (15 miles west) for bigger rigs and diesel. Pro tip: fill up in Hurricane or St. George before heading to Zion or Bryce, gas prices in Springdale and tiny gateway towns jump 30 to 60 cents per gallon.
gasprices.aaa.com/?state=UT

How far ahead should I book campgrounds near Hurricane?

Book early to lock in the prime spots: Watchman Campground inside Zion National Park opens reservations 6 months ahead on Recreation.gov and sells out for spring and fall weekends within minutes. Sand Hollow and Quail Creek State Parks use Utah's ReserveAmerica system and accept bookings up to 4 months in advance, with summer weekends booking solid by February. Private parks like WillowWind, Zion View, and St. George/Hurricane KOA are easier to grab on shorter notice but still fill 4 to 6 weeks out in shoulder season. Insider tip: if you strike out at Watchman, check South Campground (first-come, first-served before its closure season) or BLM dispersed sites on Hurricane Cliffs Road for free overnight stays with cell service and epic sunset views.
recreation.gov/camping/campgrounds/232445

What are the driving conditions like around Hurricane?

Driving around Hurricane is largely RV-friendly: I-15 and State Route 9 are wide, well-paved, and have generous shoulders, and the town itself sits at a manageable 3,200 feet elevation. The main thing to know is the Zion-Mt. Carmel Tunnel on SR-9: rigs over 11'4" tall or 7'10" wide need a $15 oversize permit and one-way traffic escort (purchased at the park entrance, valid for two trips within 7 days). The Virgin River Gorge on I-15 between St. George and Mesquite has tight curves, take it at 55 mph in a high-profile rig. Summer afternoon thunderstorms (July through September monsoon season) can bring flash floods and gusty crosswinds, so check UDOT's road alerts before heading out and avoid washes during storms.

What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Hurricane?

Most campgrounds near Hurricane are well-equipped for a comfortable RV stay. Private parks like WillowWind, Zion View, and St. George/Hurricane KOA offer full hookups (water, 30/50 amp electric, sewer), free Wi-Fi, clean showers, laundry, and dump stations on site. Sand Hollow State Park's Westside Campground has full hookups; Quail Creek offers water and electric. Inside Zion, Watchman Campground has electric-only sites and a single dump station near the entrance. Need to dump or refill between stays? The Maverik on State Street in Hurricane and the Zion KOA both offer public dump and potable water for a small fee (usually $10 to $15). Pro tip: top off fresh water in town before heading into Zion, the water at Watchman tastes mineral-heavy to some guests.
stateparks.utah.gov/parks/quail-creek/

What amenities come with a typical RV rental in Hurricane?

You'll be impressed by how well-equipped a motorhome rental Hurricane comes: expect a full kitchen (fridge/freezer, three-burner propane stove, microwave, sink, basic cookware and dishes), a bathroom with toilet and shower, sleeping for 2 to 8 depending on size, roof-mounted air conditioning (a must in summer here), propane furnace for chilly desert nights, and seatbelts for every passenger in motion. Most Class C and Class A rigs include a generator for boondocking on BLM land east of town, plus a TV and Bluetooth stereo. Wi-Fi and solar are common upgrades, some hosts include them, others charge extra. Linens, towels, and kitchen kits are often add-ons, so check the listing's inclusions or message the host before booking to confirm.
nps.gov/zion/planyourvisit/campgrounds.htm

What add-ons and pickup options should I know about?

Hosts in Hurricane typically offer a menu of helpful add-ons: linen and kitchen kits ($30 to $75), camp chairs and outdoor table ($20 to $40), generator use ($5 to $15 per hour beyond included), portable Wi-Fi hotspot, propane refill, bike racks, and dump/cleaning service ($75 to $150 if you'd rather skip the chore). Pickup is usually at the host's home in Hurricane, La Verkin, Washington, or St. George, with delivery to nearby campgrounds and the St. George Regional Airport (SGU, 22 miles) widely available. Most listings include 100 to 150 miles per night, with additional miles at $0.30 to $0.50. Pro tip: a campervan rental Hurricane is the cheapest way to skip add-ons entirely, since most come pre-stocked with linens and gear.

How does payment and the security deposit work?

Payment is simple and secure: you pay through RVezy at booking using a credit or debit card, and the platform handles everything, no cash or off-platform payments to the host. A refundable security deposit (set by the host) is collected separately from your booking payment and is held, not spent, unless there is damage or a violation of the rental agreement (like smoking inside or exceeding mileage). It is released after your trip assuming everything checks out. To breeze through, do a walkaround video with your host at pickup and dropoff, return the rig with a similar fuel and propane level, and dump the tanks (or pay the dump fee upfront). No surprises.
