The best months for RV travel are March through May and late September through November, when daytime highs are typically in the 60s to 80s Fahrenheit and trails are comfortable. Summer brings extreme heat on exposed sandstone, often over 100 Fahrenheit, so early morning hikes and shaded campsite hookups become important. Winter is a strong shoulder season with cool days, chilly nights, and far fewer crowds, though occasional freezes can affect water hookups. Spring weekends and school breaks fill the campground quickly, so reservations well in advance are recommended.

Petrified Dunes is an easy off-trail walk across rolling slickrock that was once wind-blown sand dunes. The short approach from the paved drive makes it accessible from a pullout with RV-friendly parking. Sunrise and sunset bring the best light on the white and red sandstone.
Jenny's Canyon Trail is a short half-mile round-trip hike to a narrow slot canyon in Navajo sandstone. The trailhead has a paved lot suitable for most RVs and tow vehicles. The slot is typically closed in spring to protect nesting raptors.
This route combines white sandstone bowls with a walk across a basalt lava flow and access to small lava tubes. The loop runs roughly 5 miles round trip with moderate sand and rock footing. A large trailhead parking area accommodates longer rigs.
Cinder Cone Trail is a short but steep climb up a volcanic cone just outside the park boundary, reached from the north end of the scenic drive. The summit offers panoramic views of the canyon, St. George basin, and Pine Valley Mountains. Loose cinders make the descent slow.
Hidden Pinyon is a 1.5 mile round-trip interpretive trail that winds through sandstone benches to a canyon overlook. Numbered stops describe the park's geology, plants, and wildlife. The trailhead sits directly across from the campground for easy in-park access.
The paved park road offers one of the most photogenic short drives in southwest Utah, winding past red cliffs, black lava, and white sandstone domes. Several pullouts and picnic areas are sized for RVs and trailers. Driving the canyon south to north provides the best cliff-face views.
Snow Canyon has dozens of established sport and trad routes on Navajo sandstone popular from fall through spring. Climbers park at signed pullouts along the scenic drive and approach on short user trails. Seasonal closures protect raptor nesting sites, so check the park bulletin board before climbing.
The park maintains a dedicated equestrian area with parking for trucks and horse trailers near the south entrance. Rides follow sandy washes and slickrock routes with views of the canyon walls. Guided outfitters operate from adjacent private stables in Ivins.
Loved our experience with Sandy from start to finish. He communicated very well, including letting us know about the need to reserve a campsite ahead of time. The camper was very well stocked with kitchen items. The beds were soft and well prepared. They met us when we arrived to set up the RV and explain everything. The weather was very cold and so the water froze one morning. Sandy came right over within minutes and helped us get it going again. Very nice people and very honest. There were extra things we had ordered that we didn’t need so he offered to takeoff those charges. We would absolutely come back and use them again. We were a family with small children and they even agreed that it felt like home. Thank you for a great experience!

Sandy's bunkhouse RV trailer was amazing and had pretty much all the amenities we needed! Sandy was super communicative and helpful throughout the entire process. The delivery/pickup was smooth and easy, would definitely recommend to anyone!

Snow Canyon State Park, UT, United States
The park sits about 11 miles northwest of St. George via SR-18 and Snow Canyon Parkway, and roughly 120 miles, about 2 hours, northeast of Las Vegas via I-15. Zion National Park is approximately 55 miles east, around a 1 hour drive. RV drivers should note that Snow Canyon Drive through the park has some steep grades and tight curves, and large rigs should enter via the south (Ivins) entrance on Snow Canyon Parkway rather than the narrower north SR-18 descent. The nearest airport for fly-and-rent trips is St. George Regional Airport, with Harry Reid International in Las Vegas as the larger hub.
