My husband and I had a fabulous long weekend trail blazing along HWY 395 in Vantastic! We saw some beautiful scenery all in the comfort of our temporary home on wheels. We loved how easy it was, the driving, parking, pulling up to a camp spot and settling right in because there's nothing to set up! It was a great way to enjoy each other in the great outdoors!

Amazing experience amazing host. Trailer was exactly as described. Everything worked as it should and I have zero complaints. Myself, my girlfriend and our black lab Mable rented this trailer to take it camping up at Owens river to hangout and fish. We got some pretty high winds and rain the first day and some snow the second night. It’s dry camping up there so the generator they supplied was crucial and it worked great. Heater worked great, fridge and freezer get cold very fast and the water pressure and shower were perfect. The whole experience was great from the pick up to drop off and we will definitely be renting from them again!

Horsetail Fall

That is Horsetail Fall in Yosemite National Park, a winter phenomenon that draws photographers and dreamers when skies stay clear and the fall is running. Arriving in your own RV means a warm kitchen, your own bed, and a flexible base for cold evenings after the walk back from the viewing area. Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Crowley Lake, CA

How much does an RV rental in Crowley Lake, CA typically cost?

Good news for Eastern Sierra travelers: an RV rental in Crowley Lake, CA is often more affordable than you would expect for such a bucket-list destination. On RVezy, travel trailers in the Crowley Lake and Mammoth Lakes corridor typically range from about $95 to $175 per night, while Class C motorhomes run roughly $175 to $275 per night, and larger Class A rigs land between $250 and $400. To score a cheap RV rental in Crowley Lake, book mid-week, target the shoulder seasons of late April or October, and consider a smaller travel trailer if you are a couple. Pro tip: opening weekend of trout season (last Saturday in April) books out fast, so reserve early to lock in lower rates.

What license do I need to rent an RV in Crowley Lake, California?

Great news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Crowley Lake, no special California endorsement or commercial driver's license required for the motorhomes and trailers listed on RVezy. Approved drivers must generally be 25 or older, and RVezy handles ID verification right inside the platform when you book, so there is nothing extra to mail in or notarize. Visiting from outside the US? Bring your home-country license plus an International Driving Permit. Most first-timers are surprised how smooth the process is, leaving you free to focus on planning the fun stuff like fishing Hilton Bay or driving up to Mammoth.

What protection is included with my Crowley Lake RV rental?

You can book with confidence: every RV rental in Crowley Lake, CA on RVezy comes with a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance included automatically. Protection plans help cover physical damage to the RV during your trip, which is reassuring when you are towing along Highway 395 or exploring gravel roads near the Crowley Lake Columns. At checkout you choose your preferred coverage level (not your host), so you can dial peace of mind up or down to fit your trip. Combined with included roadside support, a flat tire near McGee Creek or a small bump in the campground will not derail your adventure.

What if my plans change? Can I cancel my Crowley Lake RV booking?

Booking an RV trip to Crowley Lake is low-risk: RVezy sets a clear, platform-wide cancellation policy with a money-back grace period after you book, so you do not have to commit blind. RVezy (not individual hosts) manages cancellations, which means consistent rules no matter which travel trailer or campervan rental in Crowley Lake you pick. Refund amounts depend on how far in advance you cancel. If a host needs to cancel, RVezy will refund you or provide credits so your trip plans stay protected. Can I bring my dog on a Crowley Lake RV trip?

Absolutely, the Eastern Sierra is a dream for dog owners, and pet-friendly RV rental in Crowley Lake is easy to find on RVezy. Just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on the search page and you'll see motorhomes and trailers from hosts who welcome four-legged guests. Once you arrive, dogs are allowed at Crowley Lake Campground (BLM) and on most Inyo National Forest trails when leashed, and the open sage flats around the lake are perfect for sniff-walks at sunrise. Many nearby restaurants in Mammoth Lakes have dog-friendly patios too. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm pet fees and any size limits, so check-in is a breeze.

Can the RV be delivered to my campsite at Crowley Lake?

Yes, and it's the easiest way to start your Crowley Lake RV trip: many RVezy hosts in the Mammoth Lakes and Bishop area offer RV delivery to Crowley Lake, meaning they'll tow the trailer or park the motorhome at your campsite, level it, hook up power and water, and walk you through every system. This is a game-changer if you're flying into Mammoth Yosemite Airport (MMH) or Reno-Tahoe and don't want to tow over Sherwin Summit yourself. Popular drop-off spots include Crowley Lake Campground, Crowley Lake RV Park on South Landing Road, and Brown's Owens River Campground. Use the Delivery filter on RVezy to see which hosts deliver and what their mileage radius and fees look like.

What mileage policies should I expect on a Crowley Lake RV rental?

Most hosts on RVezy include a generous daily mileage allowance, typically 100 to 150 free miles per day, with additional miles available at a per-mile rate, and some listings even offer RV rental with unlimited mileage. That matters because Crowley Lake sits along Highway 395 at the gateway to a ton of driving: Mammoth Lakes is just 12 miles north, Bishop is 25 miles south, June Lake Loop is about 30 miles north, Mono Lake is roughly 45 miles north, and Bodie State Historic Park is about 75 miles. If you're planning a Yosemite swing through Tioga Pass (another 75 miles or so), filter for high or unlimited mileage on RVezy before you book to keep things simple.

Where can I camp with my RV near Crowley Lake?

You're spoiled for choice. The best campgrounds near Crowley Lake include the BLM-run Crowley Lake Campground (47 sites, no hookups, $12 a night, open May through October, max RV length about 30 feet) just off Crowley Lake Drive; Crowley Lake RV Park at 515 South Landing Road, which is open year-round with full 30-amp hookups for rigs up to 40 feet; and Crowley Lake Fish Camp at the marina, with full-hookup sites and dry camping at Beaver Cove. Just up the road, Inyo National Forest's Rock Creek Lake Campground and Convict Lake Campground are stunning alpine alternatives. Pro tip: BLM's Crowley Lake Campground is first-come, first-served, so arrive Thursday for weekend sites.

When is the best time to visit Crowley Lake in an RV?

The sweet spot for an RV camping Crowley Lake trip is late April through mid-October, with two standout windows. The trout opener on the last Saturday in April through June brings warm days in the 60s and 70s and the year's most famous fishing, while September and October deliver crisp 60s to mid-70s, golden aspens along McGee Canyon, fewer crowds, and catch-and-release fly fishing through November 15. July and August are peak summer with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s and cool 40-degree nights at 6,800 feet of elevation. Winters are snowy and many area campgrounds close, so target spring through fall for the easiest, sunniest Crowley Lake RV trip.

I've never driven an RV before. Is Crowley Lake a good place to start?

It's a great spot for first time renting an RV. Highway 395 between Bishop and Mammoth Lakes is a wide, well-maintained two-lane state route with generous shoulders and slow-vehicle turnouts, and the side road into Crowley Lake (Crowley Lake Drive) is paved and easy. Every RVezy host gives you a full walkthrough at pickup covering propane, tanks, leveling, and the awning, and you can message them anytime during your trip. If you'd rather skip driving entirely, choose a host who offers delivery and setup at your campsite. Pro tip: start with a smaller Class C motorhome or a 20-25 foot travel trailer, which handles Sherwin Summit (elevation 7,000 feet) comfortably.

What happens if I break down during my Crowley Lake RV trip?

You are covered. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance with your protection plan, so if you get a flat near Tom's Place, a dead battery at Crowley Lake Campground, or run low on fuel between Bishop and Mammoth, one phone call gets help dispatched to your location. The Eastern Sierra has reliable service providers in Bishop and Mammoth Lakes, both within about 25 miles of the lake. Your host is also just a message away for quirks specific to their RV. Pro tip: cell coverage can be spotty along Highway 395, so save the RVezy roadside number and your host's contact info offline before heading out.

What road trips can I take from Crowley Lake?

An RV road trip from Crowley Lake is one of the most scenic in the American West because you are on Highway 395 in the heart of the Eastern Sierra. Popular routes include Mammoth Lakes and Devils Postpile National Monument (about 12 to 20 miles north), June Lake Loop (about 30 miles), Mono Lake's tufa towers (about 45 miles north), Bodie ghost town (about 75 miles), Yosemite via Tioga Pass when open in summer (about 90 miles to the valley), and Death Valley National Park (roughly 150 miles south). Nevada destinations like Reno or Lake Tahoe (about 200 miles north) are also great options with most hosts.
nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/tioga.htm

How much should I budget for fuel on a Crowley Lake RV trip?

Fuel is the biggest variable cost, but it's easy to plan for. Most Class C motorhomes get 8 to 12 miles per gallon, Class A rigs 6 to 10, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle (typically 10 to 14 MPG). Gas in Mammoth Lakes and along Highway 395 runs higher than the California average (often $5.50 to $6.50 per gallon in 2026), so smart RVers fill up in Bishop, where prices are usually 30 to 60 cents cheaper per gallon. For a typical 4-night Crowley Lake RV trip covering 300 to 400 miles, budget $150 to $300 for fuel. Pro tip: top off in Bishop heading north and again before you leave Mammoth on the return.

How far in advance should I book a campsite near Crowley Lake?

Book early and you'll have your pick of the lake. For reservable Inyo National Forest sites at Convict Lake, Rock Creek Lake, and McGee Creek, reservations open up to six months in advance on Recreation.gov, and summer weekends fill within minutes for July and August. Crowley Lake Campground (BLM) is first-come, first-served, so plan to arrive Thursday for a Friday-Saturday stay. Private parks like Crowley Lake RV Park and Crowley Lake Fish Camp take direct reservations and typically book up 2 to 4 months ahead for trout opener (last Saturday in April) and Labor Day weekend. Pro tip: have a backup site at Brown's Owens River Campground in Bishop as your Plan B.
recreation.gov/camping/gateways/1106

What are driving conditions like around Crowley Lake?

Driving around Crowley Lake is straightforward most of the year, but a few Eastern Sierra realities are worth knowing. Highway 395 is a well-maintained two-lane highway with 65 mph limits and turnouts for slower RVs; Sherwin Summit (7,000 feet) just south of Mammoth can see sudden afternoon thunderstorms and gusty crosswinds in summer. From November through April, Caltrans frequently requires chains or 4WD on 395 north of Bishop after storms, and Tioga Pass into Yosemite is closed in winter. Dirt roads to the famous Crowley Lake Columns require high clearance and ideally 4WD. Check Caltrans QuickMap before you drive, and avoid driving the lake's back roads after dark when mule deer are most active.

Where do I dump tanks and fill water near Crowley Lake?

You're well covered. Crowley Lake Campground (BLM) has a public dump station ($12, no passes accepted) and potable water on site, and Crowley Lake RV Park offers full hookups including sewer right at your site. Just up Highway 395, the Mammoth Mountain RV Park in Mammoth Lakes and the Bishop area Brown's Town Campground both have dump stations and potable water for non-guests for a small fee. Most BLM and Forest Service campgrounds in the area (like Rock Creek Lake) have potable water spigots but no hookups, so you'll dry camp and use the dump on the way out. Pro tip: arrive with full fresh water from your host's home base to maximize boondocking days.
blm.gov/visit/crowley-lake-campground

What amenities come standard in a Crowley Lake RV rental?

You will feel right at home. Most motorhome rental Crowley Lake listings on RVezy include a queen or king bed plus convertible dinette and sofa sleeping (Class Cs typically sleep 4 to 6, Class As sleep 6 to 8), a kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, and sink, a bathroom with toilet and shower, heat and air conditioning, and seatbelts for every traveling passenger. Many also include a generator (helpful for boondocking at Crowley Lake Campground where there are no hookups), awnings, outdoor speakers, and a TV. Wi-Fi can be limited at 6,800 feet of elevation, so ask the host about a mobile hotspot or look for listings that include Starlink as an add-on.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Crowley%20Lake%2C%20California

What add-ons and pickup options should I look for when I rent an RV in Crowley Lake?

Hosts on RVezy offer a menu of useful extras to customize your trip. Common add-ons (with typical fees) include linens and kitchen kits ($50 to $100 per trip), generators ($10 to $25 a day), bikes and kayaks for paddling Crowley Lake ($15 to $40 a day), and fishing gear or chairs. For pickup, you can meet the host at their location near Mammoth Lakes or Bishop, or choose delivery to your campsite (often $2 to $3 per mile beyond a free radius). Mileage policies usually include 100 to 150 free miles per day with overage at 30 to 50 cents per mile, and a few hosts offer unlimited mileage. Use the Instant Book and Delivery filters to narrow your search fast.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Crowley%20Lake%2C%20California

How does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?

Payment is simple and secure: you pay through RVezy.com (no cash to the host), and your total covers the nightly rate, any add-ons, taxes, the protection plan, and 24/7 roadside assistance. A refundable security deposit is held separately from your booking payment before pickup and released after the trip once the host confirms the RV is returned in good shape. To avoid issues, do a thorough video walkthrough with your host at pickup and drop-off, return with the same fuel and propane levels, empty the tanks at the Crowley Lake Campground dump station, and document everything in the RVezy app.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-works

Is family RV camping at Crowley Lake a good idea for kids?

Crowley Lake is one of the best family RV trip Crowley Lake destinations in California. Kids can fish for trout right from shore at Hilton Bay, hunt for the otherworldly Crowley Lake Columns by the dam (bring a 4WD or hike in), splash in nearby Convict Lake, ride the gondola at Mammoth Mountain, and explore Devils Postpile National Monument's basalt cliffs just 20 miles away. The wide-open sage flats around the lake mean little ones can run free without traffic worries, and most RVezy listings sleep 4 to 6 comfortably with bunk options. Pro tip: pack layers, because summer nights at 6,800 feet routinely drop into the 40s even when daytime temps hit the 80s.
