We had a great experience with Levi and his staff. The RV was well stocked and clean and comfortable. Everything we expected and more. We had the RV delivered by Colin and he was so accommodating. Bob was very easy to deal with. He answered ever question we had regarding the RV. We have rented from this platform not had we ever driven a vehicle so large. He put us at ease. As for his rental it was fully stocked with everything we needed including coffee. The RV was clean and the bed was made up for us. He took the time to go through how everything worked. We used the RV for rough camping at a NASCAR race so we didn’t have any electricity. The RV was able to handle this for 4 days with no issues. I would definitely rent from Bob again.

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Stuart, VA

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Stuart, VA?

RV rental in Stuart, VA is refreshingly affordable compared to coastal Virginia or DC area pricing. Travel trailers typically start around $90 to $130 per night, Class C motorhomes run roughly $175 to $260, and larger Class A coaches range from $250 to $400 nightly. Because Stuart sits in rural Patrick County, you can stretch your budget further than in Richmond or Virginia Beach. For a cheap RV rental in Stuart, book midweek (Sunday through Thursday), aim for shoulder months like April or early November, and consider a travel trailer if your tow vehicle is up to it. Pro tip: many hosts discount weekly bookings, so even a five night Blue Ridge getaway can land at a better nightly rate.

Do I need a special license to rent an RV in Stuart, VA?

Good news: a standard driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Stuart, VA. Virginia does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or special endorsement for personal motorhomes or trailers used recreationally, even larger Class A coaches. To book on RVezy you generally need to be 25 or older, and your ID is verified securely through the platform during checkout. Visiting from outside the US? Bring your home country license along with an International Driving Permit (IDP). First time renting an RV? Your host runs a full walkthrough at pickup, so you'll roll out feeling confident before you ever hit Route 58.

What happens if I need to cancel my Stuart RV rental?

You can book with confidence. RVezy sets a clear cancellation policy on every booking (hosts don't control this), and refunds depend on how far out you are from your trip start date. If a host ever cancels on you, RVezy helps with a refund or rebooking credit. Full details show before checkout and inside your RVezy account. The takeaway: locking in your Stuart RV trip early to grab the best motorhome doesn't lock you into something rigid.

Can I bring my dog on an RV rental in Stuart, VA?

Absolutely. A pet-friendly RV rental in Stuart, VA is easy to find on RVezy: just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter and you'll see motorhomes and trailers whose owners welcome four legged guests. Patrick County is a dream for dogs. Fairy Stone State Park allows leashed pets on trails and at most campsites, the Blue Ridge Parkway permits leashed dogs at overlooks, and Philpott Lake's Goose Point Park has shaded loops perfect for evening walks. Some hosts charge a small pet fee to cover extra cleaning, which is shown upfront on the listing. Pro tip: message the host before booking to mention your dog's size and breed so everyone starts the trip on the same page.

Can the RV be delivered to my campsite near Stuart?

Yes, RV delivery in Stuart is one of the most popular options on RVezy, and it's a game changer if you'd rather skip towing or driving a big rig yourself. Many hosts deliver directly to Fairy Stone State Park, Philpott Lake recreation areas, Meadows of Dan Campground, or even a private property in Patrick County. They'll level the RV, hook up water, power and sewer, walk you through every system, and pick it up when your trip ends. Delivery fees usually run by the mile from the host's location, so the closer you camp the cheaper it is. Filter for Delivery on RVezy, message a host with your address, and you're set: arrive, unlock, relax.

How far can I drive on my Stuart RV rental, and is unlimited mileage available?

You've got real range here. Most Stuart hosts include 100 to 150 free miles per night, with extra miles billed at roughly $0.35 to $0.50 each. Some listings even offer RV rental with unlimited mileage, which is gold if you're planning a longer Blue Ridge Parkway loop. To put that in perspective from Stuart: Mabry Mill sits about 25 miles north, Roanoke is around 60 miles, Asheville NC is roughly 170 miles down the Parkway, and Great Smoky Mountains National Park is about 230 miles southwest. Pro tip: map your route before booking, then filter listings by mileage policy. A few extra included miles can easily outweigh a slightly higher nightly rate.

Where are the best campgrounds near Stuart, VA?

You're spoiled for choice. The best campgrounds near Stuart, VA include Fairy Stone State Park (about 15 miles east, lakeside sites with electric and water hookups, plus the legendary fairy stone crosses to hunt for), Meadows of Dan Campground (about 25 miles north near the Blue Ridge Parkway, full hookups), Philpott Lake's Goose Point Park (a Corps of Engineers campground with a swim beach and lake views), and Salthouse Branch Park (another Philpott Lake option, quieter and great for kayakers). Pro tip: book Fairy Stone's lakefront loops early, they sell out for summer weekends months ahead.

When is the best time to take an RV trip from Stuart, VA?

Stuart is a true four season destination. Spring (April to early June) brings 60 to 75 degree days, dogwoods, and rushing waterfalls. Summer (June through August) is warm but mild at this elevation, with highs often in the low to mid 80s, perfect for Philpott Lake swimming. Fall (late September to early November) is the headline act: the Blue Ridge Parkway lights up in reds and golds, and daytime temps hover around 55 to 70. Winter is quiet and crisp (30s to 50s), with some campgrounds closed but year round options still open. Pro tip: book a Stuart RV trip for the second and third weeks of October for peak foliage without peak crowds.

I've never rented an RV before. Will I be okay driving one around Stuart?

You'll be totally fine, and you're not alone: first time renting an RV is the most common situation for Stuart bookings. Every RVezy host gives you a hands on walkthrough at pickup covering driving, propane, slides, holding tanks, and hookups, plus a written or video guide you can replay later. Stuart's roads are forgiving for beginners: US 58 and US 220 are wide highways with gentle grades, and you can avoid tight downtown streets entirely. If the Blue Ridge Parkway curves feel intimidating, stick to the lower elevations near Philpott Lake. Worried about parking or backing up? Book delivery and setup so the host handles it. By day two, you'll feel like you've been doing this for years.

What if something breaks down during my Stuart RV trip?

Breathe easy. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance, so if you get a flat on the Blue Ridge Parkway, lose battery power at Fairy Stone, or run into engine trouble heading toward Meadows of Dan, one call gets a tow, jump, tire change, or fuel delivery rolling your way. Your host is also a quick text away for the small stuff like a finicky water pump or resetting the generator. Stuart has reliable cell coverage along US 58 and US 220, though signal can fade on remote Parkway sections (download offline maps before heading out). Between the host, RVezy support, and roadside assistance, you've got three layers of help on every trip.

Can I take my Stuart RV rental into North Carolina or other states?

Yes, interstate travel is welcomed on most RVezy rentals, which makes Stuart a fantastic launchpad for a multi state RV road trip. Popular routes from Stuart: south on US 52 to Pilot Mountain State Park, NC (about 35 miles), down the Blue Ridge Parkway to Asheville (about 170 miles), east to the Outer Banks (about 300 miles), or northeast to Shenandoah National Park (about 180 miles). Confirm your route with your host before booking if you're crossing state lines. Cross border travel into Canada may be possible on select listings but requires host approval and insurance confirmation. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals. Pro tip: a Stuart to Asheville Parkway loop is a perfect first time RV trip.
nps.gov/blri/index.htm

What kind of fuel mileage should I expect and how should I budget for gas?

Fuel is one of the bigger trip costs, but it's easy to plan for. Class B campervan rentals in Stuart average 18 to 22 miles per gallon, Class C motorhomes get 8 to 12, Class A coaches 6 to 10, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle (expect a 20 to 30 percent drop from your normal MPG). Virginia gas prices typically run close to or slightly below the national average. For a 300 mile round trip from Stuart to Asheville in a Class C, budget roughly $100 to $140 in fuel. Pro tip: top up in Stuart or Martinsville before heading onto the Blue Ridge Parkway, where there are no gas stations directly on the Parkway itself, only at exits.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/

How far in advance should I book a campground near Stuart?

Sooner is smarter, especially for summer weekends and October foliage. Fairy Stone State Park opens reservations 11 months ahead through the Virginia State Parks reservation system, and the lakefront sites go fast. Philpott Lake's Corps of Engineers campgrounds (Goose Point, Salthouse Branch, Horseshoe Point) book through Recreation.gov, typically 6 months in advance, and weekends fill 8 to 12 weeks out in peak season. Private parks like Meadows of Dan Campground typically take direct phone or online bookings and are a little easier last minute. Pro tip: if you strike out on weekends, target a Sunday through Thursday Stuart RV trip. You'll find availability at the best sites and often pay less per night too.
recreation.gov/

What are the driving conditions like around Stuart, VA?

Stuart is mountain foothill country, so expect scenic curves rather than white knuckle switchbacks. US 58 (the Crooked Road) and US 220 are the main routes in and out, both highways with rolling grades, generous shoulders, and posted speeds of 45 to 55 mph. The Blue Ridge Parkway is the showstopper, but it caps at 45 mph and has tunnels with height clearances, so check your RV's height before driving it. Winter (December to February) can bring occasional snow or ice at higher elevations; VDOT 511 has real time road conditions. Pro tip: avoid driving the Parkway at dusk in fall (deer are active) and use VDOT 511 to check for fog advisories on the ridgeline.

What amenities do campgrounds near Stuart offer for RVs?

You'll find a full range. Fairy Stone State Park offers water and 20/30/50 amp electric on most sites, a dump station, hot showers, and a camp store. Philpott Lake's Corps of Engineers parks have electric and water hookups, dump stations, and lake access. Meadows of Dan Campground offers full hookups (water, electric, sewer) plus laundry. For dumping and filling fresh water mid trip, the Fairy Stone dump station is open to non campers for a small fee, and many gas stations along US 58 sell potable water jugs. Pro tip: if you're new to RV camping in Stuart, book a full hookup site for your first night so you can practice connections without worrying about tank levels.

What's typically included inside a Stuart RV rental?

Quite a lot, actually. Most motorhome rentals in Stuart come fully equipped: a queen or king bed, bunks or convertible dinettes for the kids, a kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, sink, pots, pans, and dishes, a bathroom with toilet and shower, air conditioning, a furnace for chilly mountain nights, and seatbelts for everyone traveling. Many include a generator or solar setup for off grid Blue Ridge stays, plus an outdoor awning. TVs are common, though Wi-Fi varies (some hosts offer mobile hotspots as an add-on). Campervan rentals in Stuart are more compact but still pack a bed, kitchenette, and often a wet bath. Pro tip: check the listing's amenities list and message the host if you need anything specific like a car seat anchor or extra bedding.

What add-ons and pickup options should I know about for my Stuart RV rental?

You can truly customize your trip. Popular add-ons from Stuart hosts include linen and towel packages, kitchen kits, camp chairs and tables, bikes, kayaks (perfect for Philpott Lake), portable grills, generators, and pet kits. Delivery and setup is the biggest one for first timers, with fees usually calculated by mileage from the host's location. Pickup is straightforward: meet your host at their place or your delivery address, do the walkthrough, snap photos together, and head out. Mileage policies vary by listing (most include 100 to 150 free miles per night), so check that line on the listing before booking. Pro tip: bundle add-ons at booking. Hosts often offer better pricing than a la carte.

How does payment and the security deposit work for a Stuart RV rental?

It's all handled securely through RVezy. You pay through the platform with a credit or debit card at booking, no cash, no awkward in person transactions. A refundable security deposit is held separately from your booking payment and released after your trip once the host confirms the RV came back in good shape, with the tanks emptied and roughly the same fuel level. To avoid surprises: photograph the RV inside and out at pickup and dropoff, follow the host's checkout checklist, and keep receipts for fuel and dump fees. Pro tip: ask your host about their preferred dump station so you don't return with full tanks, which is the most common cause of deposit deductions.
