2014 Other Class C
We had a terrific 9-day trip in Dennis' RV, from Salt Lake through Jackson Hole, Yellowstone, Bozeman and back. The RV was clean, very well-equipped with all the bedding, cooking and camp furnishings you need. The 1st night, I struggled getting the a/c to run (my fault) and Dennis showed up at 10 pm at my campground to assist! And I'd driven 80 miles from where I'd picked it up from him. What a star. RV was easy to drive, all systems ran well. Overall a great experience. Would certainly use his RV again, if we're out that way. Highly recommend.

Do I need a special license to rent an RV in Alpine, Wyoming?

Great news for first-time renters: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Alpine. Wyoming requires only a standard Class C non-commercial license for any motorhome, travel trailer, or campervan rental under 26,000 pounds and towing under 10,000 pounds, which covers essentially every RV on RVezy. RVezy also requires approved drivers to generally be 25 or older, and your ID is verified right inside the platform during booking. Visiting from outside the U.S.? Bring your home country license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP), available from your local auto association for under $25. That's the entire checklist, no CDL, no endorsement, no road test required to start your Alpine, WY RV trip.

Is my RV rental in Alpine covered if something goes wrong?

Yes, every booking on RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit Highway 89 toward Jackson with real peace of mind. The protection plan covers most physical damage to the vehicle during your trip, and you choose the level of coverage that fits your comfort during the booking process (the host doesn't pick it for you). Roadside help is just a phone call away whether you're at Palisades Reservoir or deep in Bridger-Teton National Forest. It isn't traditional auto insurance, but it removes the biggest worry most renters have. Pro tip: take a quick walk-around video at pickup and drop-off, and you'll have a smooth, stress-free Alpine, WY RV rental from start to finish.

What if my plans change, can I cancel my Alpine RV booking?

Booking is low-risk on RVezy, and yes, you can cancel. RVezy (not individual hosts) sets the cancellation policy for every reservation, and it includes a money-back grace period right after booking so you can lock in your Alpine dates with confidence. After that, your refund depends on how close you are to your trip start date. You won't see different cancellation rules on each listing because it's a platform-wide process. If a host has to cancel on you, RVezy refunds your booking or provides travel credits, and the support team is available before, during, and after every trip to help you sort it out. Book early; the best Alpine rigs go fast for July and August.

Can I bring my dog on an Alpine, WY RV trip?

Absolutely, and Alpine is one of the most dog-friendly basecamps in Wyoming. Use the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy to instantly see every pet-friendly RV rental in Alpine, then message the host to confirm any pet fees or breed notes before you book. Once you're here, Bridger-Teton National Forest welcomes leashed dogs on trails, the Greys River Road is a paradise for forest walks, and many local RV parks in the Star Valley area accept pets on-site. Just remember: dogs are not allowed on most trails inside Grand Teton or Yellowstone National Parks, so plan day hikes in the national forest instead. Bring a long leash, bear spray, and you're set.

Can the RV be delivered to my campground in Alpine?

Yes, RV delivery in Alpine is a game-changer, especially if you're flying into Jackson Hole Airport (about 65 miles north) and don't want to drive a motorhome on your first day. Many RVezy hosts in the Alpine and Star Valley area offer delivery and setup straight to local campgrounds and Bridger-Teton dispersed sites. They'll level the rig, hook up power and water if available, and walk you through everything from the propane to the awning. Filter listings by Delivery on RVezy, message the host with your campground address, and ask for a quote. It's the easiest way to enjoy an Alpine, WY RV trip without ever getting behind the wheel of a big rig.

How far can I drive from Alpine, and is unlimited mileage available?

Alpine is perfectly placed for a big-loop RV road trip from Alpine, with Jackson about 36 miles north, Grand Teton National Park around 50 miles to Moose, Yellowstone's South Entrance roughly 95 miles, Idaho Falls about 75 miles west, and Pinedale roughly 80 miles southeast over the scenic Hoback Rim. Hosts on RVezy set their own mileage policies; many offer a generous 100 to 150 free miles per day, and quite a few list RV rentals with unlimited mileage, which is ideal for a Yellowstone-and-back week. You'll see the daily mileage allowance and overage cost right on each listing before you book. Pro tip: filter by unlimited mileage and message hosts about your route, they often have great local tips.

Where are the best campgrounds near Alpine, WY?

You're spoiled for choice when it comes to RV camping in Alpine. Highlights include private full-hookup parks in town near Palisades Reservoir and along the Snake River, plus U.S. Forest Service options like Moose Flat and Forest Park campgrounds along the scenic Greys River Road, which typically offer vault toilets and potable water but no hookups. For Bridger-Teton developed sites and other federal campgrounds, book through Recreation.gov; many in-town private parks accept direct online bookings. Reserve summer dates by April for the best pick, and consider weekday arrivals for first-come, first-served Forest Service sites.

When is the best time of year to rent an RV in Alpine, Wyoming?

The sweet spot is mid-June through mid-September, when daytime highs sit between 70 and 83°F, nights cool to the 40s, and every road into Yellowstone and Grand Teton is open. July is typically the warmest and driest month, while September brings golden aspens, fewer crowds, and elk bugling along the Snake River. Spring (May to early June) can still be snowy at higher elevations, and winter brings serious cold along with heavy snowfall, perfect if you want a snowmobiling basecamp. For a stress-free first Alpine, WY RV trip, aim for the last two weeks of June or the first three weeks of September.

I've never rented an RV before, will I be okay driving around Alpine?

You've got this, and Alpine is one of the friendliest places in the Rockies for a first time renting an RV. Highways 89 and 26 are well-maintained two-lane roads with generous pullouts, and traffic outside of Jackson is light. Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on orientation at pickup covering driving, hookups, propane, and the dump valves, and you can message them anytime during your trip with questions. If you're nervous, pick a Class B campervan or a 22 to 25 foot Class C motorhome rental in Alpine for easy handling. Do a first practice loop on the flat stretch between Alpine and Etna before tackling the Snake River Canyon. Confidence comes quickly.

What happens if I break down or have RV trouble in Alpine?

You're never on your own. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, so one phone call gets you help whether you've got a flat on Greys River Road, a dead battery at Palisades Reservoir, or a generator hiccup near the Snake River Canyon. Your host is also a quick text away and usually knows the local mobile RV techs in Alpine, Thayne, and Jackson. Cell service is solid in Alpine and along Highway 89 but spotty in the deeper Bridger-Teton backcountry, so download offline maps before heading up the Greys River corridor. Save RVezy's support number to your phone before your trip and you'll feel calm wherever the road takes you.

Can I take my Alpine RV rental into Yellowstone, Idaho, or Canada?

Yes, interstate travel is welcome and that's exactly what most renters do. Alpine sits right on the Wyoming-Idaho border, so popular routes from Alpine include Yellowstone's South Entrance (about 95 miles north), Grand Teton's Moose entrance (50 miles), Idaho's Swan Valley and Mesa Falls Scenic Byway (less than an hour west), and Salt Lake City (around 240 miles south). Cross-border trips into Canada may be allowed depending on the host and insurance, so message the host before booking if Banff or Jasper is on your list. One firm rule: travel into Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental because of insurance coverage limits. For everything else, you're free to roam.

What kind of fuel mileage should I expect, and how do I budget for gas?

Plan smart and fuel won't catch you off guard. Most Class C motorhomes get 8 to 12 miles per gallon, Class A motorhomes 6 to 10, and Class B campervans 14 to 20, while travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle. Wyoming gas prices typically run close to the national average, and Alpine has convenient stations on Highway 89 right in town, your last reliable fill-up before heading up Greys River Road. For a 500-mile loop through Jackson, Grand Teton, and Yellowstone in a Class C, budget around $200 to $275 in fuel. Top off in Alpine or Jackson rather than at remote Yellowstone stations where prices jump significantly. That's smart Wyoming RV trip budgeting.

How far in advance should I book campgrounds near Alpine?

Book early and you'll have your pick of the best spots. For summer travel (June through August), reserve developed Bridger-Teton National Forest campgrounds and Grand Teton sites through Recreation.gov as soon as the six-month booking window opens, especially Gros Ventre, Colter Bay, and Signal Mountain. Private parks in Alpine and the Star Valley area usually sell out July weekends by April, so call directly or book online 2 to 4 months ahead. Many smaller Forest Service campgrounds along the Greys River are first-come, first-served, so plan to arrive by mid-morning on Thursday for a weekend site. Pro tip: shoulder-season weeks in June and September often have same-week availability.

What are the driving conditions like around Alpine, especially Snake River Canyon?

Alpine driving is scenic and very manageable once you know what to expect. The standout stretch is the Snake River Canyon between Alpine and Hoback Junction, a beautiful run on Highway 89/26 with sweeping curves, frequent wildlife (watch for moose and bighorn sheep), and pullouts every few miles. Teton Pass (Highway 22 west of Jackson) has a 10 percent grade and is not recommended for larger motorhomes, take Highway 26 through Swan Valley instead. Winter brings snow and ice from November through April, requiring winter tires or chains, and summer thunderstorms can roll in fast over the Salt River Range. Use lower gears on descents, keep your speed moderate in a loaded RV, and you'll love every mile.
wyoroad.info/

What should I expect at campgrounds near Alpine for hookups, dump stations, and water?

You'll find a great mix of full-service and rustic options. Full-hookup private parks in Alpine typically offer 30/50-amp electric, water, sewer, WiFi, and laundry on-site. Forest Service campgrounds along the Greys River (such as Moose Flat and Forest Park) have potable water and vault toilets but no hookups, so come with full fresh tanks and empty waste tanks. The town of Afton, about 35 miles south, has a public RV dump station, and several in-town parks allow non-guest dumping for a small fee. Fill water at any full-hookup park or the visitor centers in Alpine and Jackson. Pro tip: top off fresh water in Alpine before heading up the Greys River Road, services thin out quickly.

What amenities come inside a typical Alpine RV rental?

More than you'd expect, even on a budget pick. Most motorhome rentals in Alpine come fully equipped with a queen or king bed, additional sleeping for 4 to 8 people, a working kitchen (stove, microwave, fridge, sink, cookware, dishes), a bathroom with shower and toilet, heating, air conditioning, and seatbelted seating for everyone traveling. Class C and Class A models usually include a generator for off-grid power, a TV, and some have WiFi boosters, though cell service in the Bridger-Teton backcountry is limited. Campervans (Class B) trade space for nimble driving and often include solar power. Each RVezy listing shows a complete amenities checklist and photos, so you'll know exactly what's in your rig before you book.

What add-ons and pickup options should I know about when I rent an RV in Alpine?

Hosts in Alpine make it easy to customize your trip. Popular add-ons include camp chairs and tables, bedding and towel packages, generator use beyond a daily allowance, portable BBQs, bike racks, and propane refills. Pickup is usually at the host's home base in Alpine, Thayne, or Etna, with delivery available to local campgrounds for a flat fee plus mileage. Mileage policies vary: many include 100 free miles per day with a per-mile overage rate, and some offer unlimited mileage for an upfront premium. Check the listing's add-on list and message the host with your itinerary; they're great at tailoring the rig for a Yellowstone or Tetons trip.

How does the security deposit and payment work for my Alpine RV rental?

Payment is simple and secure through the RVezy platform, no cash handoffs at pickup. You'll pay your rental total at booking using a credit or debit card, and a refundable security deposit is pre-authorized on your card before your trip starts, separate from your booking payment. The hold is released after drop-off if the RV comes back in the same condition, with the same fuel and propane levels, and within your mileage and generator-hour allowance. To avoid any surprises: take timestamped photos and a walk-around video at both pickup and drop-off, refill fuel near Alpine before returning, and review the listing's overage rates upfront. Easy, transparent, and stress-free.

How do I handle cold weather if I want a winter Alpine RV trip?

Winter in Alpine is magical, and yes, you can rent an RV in Wyoming during the snowy months for a snowmobiling, ice-fishing, or Yellowstone-by-snowcoach adventure. Look for RVezy listings labeled as four-season or winter-ready, with heated holding tanks, enclosed underbellies, and propane furnaces; message the host to confirm cold-weather prep. Plan to stay at parks offering winter shore power and heated water lines. Daytime highs sit in the 20s and 30s December through February, with overnight lows often below zero, so dress in layers and keep cabinets cracked open at night to circulate warm air around the plumbing. It's a stunning, quiet way to experience the Tetons.
