Late May through early October is the prime window, when the campground is open and the ponds are warm enough for swimming. July and August deliver the most reliable weather but also the busiest weekends, so reservations should be made well ahead. September and early October are the best shoulder season for RV travel, offering cool nights, fewer bugs, lighter crowds, and strong southern New Hampshire fall foliage. Late spring can be wet and buggy, and the campground typically closes for the cold season.

Catamount Pond is the park's day-use beach area, offering freshwater swimming, picnicking, and small-craft paddling. The day-use lot accommodates vehicles and tow rigs, and is a short drive from the campground.
Beaver Pond sits in the heart of the camping area and is stocked for freshwater fishing from shore or canoe. A flat, easy loop around the pond suits campers of all ages and is directly accessible from most RV sites.
Bear Hill is a moderate wooded hike leading to the park's central high point and historic fire tower site. The trail passes through mixed northern hardwoods and provides a solid half-day outing.
Bear Brook is one of southern New Hampshire's best-known mountain biking areas, with a large network of singletrack and old woods roads shared with hikers and equestrians. Trailhead parking near the campground and at interior lots can accommodate tow vehicles.
The park preserves historic Civilian Conservation Corps structures that now house small museums interpreting CCC work, New Hampshire snowmobile history, and local heritage. Exhibits are a quick, RV-friendly stop near the day-use area.
Bear Brook maintains a public archery range open to visitors with their own equipment. It is a unique amenity rarely found in state parks and a good option on hot or rainy afternoons.
Several lesser-trafficked trails lead to Hayes Marsh and other wetland overlooks where beaver activity, waterfowl, and wading birds are commonly seen. Morning visits offer the best wildlife viewing in the warmer months.

Bear Brook State Park, NH, United States
The park entrance is in Allenstown, roughly 20 minutes southeast of Concord and about 30 to 40 minutes north of Manchester via Interstate 93 and NH Route 28. Boston is approximately 75 miles south, a drive of about 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on traffic. RV drivers should note that approach roads include some narrow two-lane rural sections with tight turns near the park entrance, but there are no mountain passes, tunnels with RV restrictions, or steep sustained grades on the main routes. The nearest major airport for fly-and-rent travelers is Manchester-Boston Regional Airport (MHT), with Boston Logan International Airport as a larger alternative.
