Late June through early September offers the warmest lake temperatures, reliable beach weather, and full access to the day-use facilities. July and August are the busiest months, with Cape Breton's peak tourism season coinciding with the Celtic Colours shoulder period beginning in early October. Spring and fall visits are quieter but cooler, and some facilities such as washrooms may be limited outside the summer operating season.

The park's main draw is its sheltered beach on the Bras d'Or Lake. The brackish water warms up considerably by midsummer, making it one of the more comfortable swimming spots in Cape Breton. A grassy slope and picnic area back the beach.
Shaded picnic tables overlook the lake and are a convenient stop along the Bras d'Or Lakes Scenic Drive. It is a good midday break for RV travellers touring between Sydney and St. Peter's.
Route 4 passes directly in front of the park and forms part of the Bras d'Or Lakes Scenic Drive, a signed touring route along the inland sea. The road is paved two-lane with frequent lake views and small communities to explore.
The Ben Eoin Marina is a short drive from the park and offers dockside dining, boat launching, and charter options on the Bras d'Or. It is a natural pairing with a day at the park's beach.
The surrounding community is home to The Lakes Golf Club at Ben Eoin and Ski Ben Eoin, which operates in winter. In the summer months the area offers walking and viewpoints above the lake.
The Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Site and the Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site in Baddeck are both within about an hour of the park. Both sites have large RV-friendly parking lots and make strong full-day excursions from a Ben Eoin base.
Our hosts were "finest kind" as they say! Dave and Nicole take great care in welcoming you while renting their space. The trailer was fully equipped, clean and we didn't want for anything! Thank you for your friendly hospitality, we highly recommend!! Cheers until next time

Ben Eoin Provincial Park, NS, Canada
The park sits on Route 4 about 30 km southwest of Sydney, roughly a 30 minute drive, and about 70 km northeast of St. Peter's. From the Canso Causeway, plan on about two hours of driving along Route 4 or the Trans-Canada Highway 105. Route 4 is a paved two-lane road with rolling grades and some curves along the lake, manageable for most RVs but slower than the Trans-Canada. The nearest airport for fly-and-rent trips is J.A. Douglas McCurdy Sydney Airport (YQY), about 40 km away.
