Burr Oak Reservoir is the centerpiece of the park, a quiet, no-wake-dominated lake popular for fishing and paddling. Launch ramps around the shoreline make it an easy day out for RV visitors based at the campground.
A segment of Ohio's statewide Buckeye Trail circles the reservoir, offering a scenic long-distance walking route directly from the park. Sections can be sampled as out-and-back day hikes from campground trailheads.
The North Country National Scenic Trail passes through the Burr Oak area, linking the state park to surrounding Wayne National Forest lands. Burr Oak Cove Campground sits along the North Country and Buckeye backcountry trails, with drinking water, pit toilets, tables, and fire rings that make it a useful staging area or stopover. fs.usda.gov/r09/wayne/recreation/camping-cabins
The park maintains a public swim beach on the reservoir with picnic areas nearby. It is a classic summer stop for families camping in RVs at the park.
The lakeside Burr Oak Lodge provides dining and overlooks of the reservoir, a convenient non-camping amenity within the park. RV travelers often use its parking and trails for a break from the campground.
The surrounding Wayne National Forest adds hundreds of miles of multi-use trails and additional campgrounds to the Burr Oak area. There are over 400 miles of trails on the forest for hiking, off-highway vehicle (OHV) riding, mountain biking or horseback riding. fs.usda.gov/r09/wayne/recreation
The mix of reservoir, wetlands, and hardwood ridges supports deer, waterfowl, wild turkey, and migratory songbirds. Quiet mornings along lakeshore trails are the best time to spot wildlife.
First off, let me start by saying Jared is considered by my family as a Super Host. I’ve never been camping before, and this was our first experience and he showed us everything that was need to be done with The RV. He took his time with us and he was very pleasant and he made us feel so comfortable. I really appreciate him and his wife & warm, welcome they gave us. Everything was wonderful. The weather kinda didn’t cooperate, but that is another story. We had a wonderful time the wife and I enjoying Camping life. We look forward to doing this again and if anybody ever thinks about renting a RV from this wonderful family, 5 stars + across the board we really had a wonderful time at Mohican State Park in Ohio Thank You so much for..

Burr Oak State Park, OH, United States
Burr Oak State Park sits in rural southeastern Ohio near the village of Glouster, roughly 75 miles southeast of Columbus (about a 90-minute drive) and about 20 miles north of Athens. Access is via State Route 13 and State Route 78, both of which include narrow, winding sections through Appalachian hill country, so RV drivers should expect rolling grades and tight curves rather than tunnels or weight-restricted passes. The nearest commercial airport for fly-and-rent travelers is John Glenn Columbus International Airport (CMH). Pittsburgh International Airport is a longer alternative about three hours to the northeast.
