Late June through early September is the prime window, with warm days ideal for swimming, boating, and fishing on the St. Lawrence River. July and August bring the busiest campground occupancy, so reservations are strongly recommended for weekend stays. Late May, early June, and September offer cooler nights, fewer bugs, and easier site availability, though water temperatures are colder. The campground is seasonal and closed in winter.

The park's boat launch and marina give campers direct access to the Thousand Islands and the main channel of the St. Lawrence River. Trailer parking is available on site, making it easy to bring a boat along with an RV.
A sandy day-use beach offers swimming during the summer months with lifeguard coverage on a seasonal schedule. The shallow entry and river setting are popular with families staying in the campground.
Cedar Point is a well-known access point for bass, northern pike, yellow perch, and muskellunge fishing on the St. Lawrence River. Anglers can fish from shore, the pier, or launch their own boats from the park ramp.
The village of Clayton is a short drive east on Route 12E and hosts the Antique Boat Museum, restaurants, and boat tour operators. It is a convenient half-day outing from the campground with ample vehicle parking in town.
Scenic boat tours depart from nearby Clayton and Alexandria Bay and cruise past Boldt Castle, Singer Castle, and dozens of river islands. Most tours last two to three hours and are a signature experience of the region.
Picnic tables, grills, and shaded lawns line the park's waterfront for casual riverside meals. The compact layout means everything is within a short walk of campsites.
Cedar Point sits along the Great Lakes Seaway Trail, a National Scenic Byway tracing the St. Lawrence River, Lake Ontario, and the Niagara River. RV travelers can build multi-day itineraries west toward Sackets Harbor and Oswego or east along the Thousand Islands.
About a 25-minute drive west, the historic lighthouse at Tibbetts Point marks the point where Lake Ontario meets the St. Lawrence River. The grounds and overlook are open to the public with on-site parking suitable for smaller RVs and tow vehicles.

Cedar Point State Park, NY, United States
The park sits along Route 12E roughly 6 miles west of Clayton and about 30 miles northeast of Watertown, a 40-minute drive via I-81 and NY-12. Syracuse is about 2 hours south, Rochester roughly 3 hours southwest, and Ottawa, Ontario approximately 2 hours north via the Thousand Islands Bridge. RVers should note the Thousand Islands Bridge tolls and border crossing requirements if approaching from Canada, and watch for narrow shoulders and rolling grades on rural Route 12E. The closest regional airport is Watertown International (ART), while Syracuse Hancock International (SYR) offers more flight options for fly-and-rent travelers.
