Best time to visit Chenango Valley State Park

Late May through early October is the prime window for RV travel, when the campground is open and daytime highs are comfortable for swimming, boating, and golf. July and August are the busiest months and weekend reservations fill early, so midweek visits or the June and September shoulder seasons are quieter. Fall brings strong foliage color across the hardwood forest, though nights turn cold and some services wind down. Winter is scenic for day use, but the campground and beach are closed and RV facilities are not available.

Chenango Valley State Park, NY, United States

How to get to Chenango Valley State Park

The park is about 12 miles northeast of Binghamton and is reached via I-88 to exit 3, then north on NY-369. Syracuse is roughly 75 miles north (about 1.5 hours) and Scranton, Pennsylvania is about 70 miles south. The route is straightforward for RVs with no major tunnels or mountain passes, but the access roads include some rolling grades typical of the Southern Tier, so check brakes and watch posted low-clearance bridges in the Binghamton area. The nearest commercial airport is Greater Binghamton Airport, with Syracuse Hancock International a larger option for fly-and-rent travelers.
