Late May through early October is the prime window for RV travel, when the campground is open and daytime highs are comfortable for swimming, boating, and golf. July and August are the busiest months and weekend reservations fill early, so midweek visits or the June and September shoulder seasons are quieter. Fall brings strong foliage color across the hardwood forest, though nights turn cold and some services wind down. Winter is scenic for day use, but the campground and beach are closed and RV facilities are not available.

A lifeguarded sand beach on Chenango Lake is a central summer attraction. The day-use area includes bathhouses, a picnic area, and a snack bar, and parking is close enough for RV day visitors to enjoy the lake easily.
An 18-hole public golf course winds through the park's wooded terrain. Tee times can be booked in advance and the pro shop and parking lot are accessible from the main park road.
An easy loop trail circles Lily Lake through mixed forest and wetlands. It is a good short walk for families and wildlife viewing, with trailhead parking near the campground.
Chenango Lake allows non-motorized boating and small electric motors, making it ideal for kayaks, canoes, and rowboats. Seasonal rentals are available at the boathouse and there is a launch for visitors with their own craft.
Both park lakes are stocked and support warmwater and panfish species popular with shore and boat anglers. A valid New York State fishing license is required and shoreline access is available at several day-use areas.
Several miles of multi-use trails wind through hardwood forest and glacial kettle terrain. Routes range from easy lake loops to moderate climbs along the ridges, and many trails connect directly from the campground.
In winter the park's trails are used for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. The campground is closed, but day-use parking near the main entrance remains available when conditions allow.

Chenango Valley State Park, NY, United States
The park is about 12 miles northeast of Binghamton and is reached via I-88 to exit 3, then north on NY-369. Syracuse is roughly 75 miles north (about 1.5 hours) and Scranton, Pennsylvania is about 70 miles south. The route is straightforward for RVs with no major tunnels or mountain passes, but the access roads include some rolling grades typical of the Southern Tier, so check brakes and watch posted low-clearance bridges in the Binghamton area. The nearest commercial airport is Greater Binghamton Airport, with Syracuse Hancock International a larger option for fly-and-rent travelers.
