Late June through early September brings the warmest, most reliable weather for lakeside RV camping, with daytime highs suited to swimming, boating, and exploring the fort ruins. September and early October are excellent shoulder-season options, offering cooler nights, fewer bugs, and peak Adirondack fall foliage along Lake Champlain. The campground typically operates from mid-May through mid-October, so late spring visits can be cool and wet, while late-October trips risk freezing overnight temperatures.

The Champlain Memorial Lighthouse stands at the tip of the Crown Point peninsula beside the Lake Champlain Bridge. The monument commemorates Samuel de Champlain's 1609 voyage and features a bronze bust by Auguste Rodin. Flat paved access makes it straightforward for RV visitors.
Lake Champlain is a premier freshwater fishery known for bass, northern pike, lake trout, and salmon. The campground provides direct lake access and a boat launch, making it a practical base for trailered boats and kayaks. Open shoreline also suits shore fishing near the historic pier.
Pedestrian walkways on both sides of the Lake Champlain Bridge offer panoramic views over the lake toward the Green Mountains of Vermont. The short, flat walk starts near the historic site parking area. It is a popular sunset stop for RV campers.
Fort Ticonderoga is a fully restored 18th-century star fort roughly 15 miles south of Crown Point on Lake Champlain. The site features guided tours, living history demonstrations, and expansive gardens. Large paved lots accommodate RVs and trailers.
The Penfield Homestead in nearby Ironville preserves an early 19th-century ironworks community and a National Historic Landmark associated with the first industrial use of electricity. The grounds are walkable and the village roads are quiet. It offers a low-key history stop within a short drive of the campground.
