Late April through early June and mid-September through October are the most comfortable windows for RV travel, with mild temperatures, lower humidity, and blooming spring growth or fall foliage along the lake. July and August bring hot, humid weather and peak lake crowds, which is ideal for swimming and boating but busier at the campground. Winter stays are possible since the park is open year round, but expect cool nights, reduced ranger programming, and some seasonal services scaled back.

DeGray Lake is a 13,800-acre clear-water reservoir popular for largemouth and striped bass, crappie, and catfish. The park marina offers launching, moorage, and boat rentals, and RVers can park near the marina while loading gear.
Green Heron Trail is a short, mostly level interpretive loop near the campground that introduces hikers to local hardwood forest and lake ecology. It is a good stretch-your-legs option for travelers pulling in for the first night.
The park operates an 18-hole championship golf course open to the public, with a pro shop and practice facilities on site. Large paved lots accommodate tow vehicles after campers unhitch at the campground.
A designated sandy swim beach on the lake offers a roped-off swimming zone, picnic tables, and shaded areas. It is within a short drive of the campground loops and is free for registered park guests.
The park maintains multi-use singletrack and connector routes used by hikers and mountain bikers of varying ability. Trailhead parking is accessible with smaller tow vehicles after setting up camp.
Park interpreters lead seasonal programs including barge tours of the lake, bald eagle float trips in winter, and junior naturalist activities in summer. Most programs depart from the visitor center or marina, both with RV-friendly parking.
Iron Mountain Trail is a longer backcountry loop across ridges above the lake with rocky sections and elevation changes. Hikers should carry water and expect a workout, especially in summer heat.

DeGray Lake Resort State Park, AR, United States
The park sits off Scenic Highway 7 near Bismarck, about a 20 minute drive north of Arkadelphia and roughly 30 minutes southwest of Hot Springs. From Little Rock it is about 75 miles and a 90 minute drive via Interstate 30, and Dallas is approximately 260 miles and a four and a half hour drive. RV drivers should watch for rolling grades and a few tight curves on Highway 7 near the park entrance, but there are no major tunnels, passes, or low clearances on the primary routes. Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport in Little Rock is the closest major airport for fly-and-rent travelers.
