Late June through August is the most popular window, when lake temperatures are warm enough for swimming and all campground loops, the beach, and concessions are open. July and August bring the busiest weekends, so reservations should be made well in advance. Late May, June, and September are good shoulder-season options for RV travelers who want cooler nights, lower mosquito pressure, and easier campsite availability. Fall foliage in the surrounding Mohawk Valley typically peaks in early to mid October before the campground closes for the season.

The park's sandy swimming beach on Delta Lake is the main summer draw and sits a short walk from the campground. Lifeguards are on duty during the posted summer season, and a bathhouse and concession are located nearby.
A paved boat launch on the reservoir provides access for motorboats, kayaks, and canoes. Delta Lake is stocked and supports walleye, smallmouth and largemouth bass, northern pike, and panfish, with shoreline fishing available from several points inside the park.
A network of short, mostly flat nature trails loops through the wooded peninsula and along the lakeshore. The trails are suitable for families and casual walkers and connect the campground, day-use area, and beach.
Day-use picnic areas with tables, grills, and reservable pavilions are spread along the lakefront. Several pavilions have nearby parking that can accommodate RVs and tow vehicles for group gatherings.
The Erie Canalway Trail runs through nearby Rome and offers flat, paved cycling and walking along the historic canal corridor. RVers can base at Delta Lake and drive into Rome to access trailheads, including sections near Fort Stanwix.
Fort Stanwix National Monument in downtown Rome preserves a reconstructed Revolutionary War fort about 15 minutes from the park. The visitor center has RV-accessible parking on adjacent streets and offers ranger programs and exhibits. nps.gov/fost/index.htm
Outside the camping season, the park's day-use area is open for ice fishing, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing on ungroomed trails. Facilities are limited in winter and campground loops are closed.
Everything was as described. The host made sure we had everything we needed to ensure our weekend was enjoyable. Was accommodating and easy to work with. The camper is older but everything works and in good shape it was perfect for our long weekend racing

We had such a wonderful experience renting this RV! The owner was absolutely fantastic—so kind, accommodating, and incredibly flexible throughout the entire process. Communication was seamless, he was always quick to respond, and he went above and beyond to make everything easy and stress-free. The RV itself was spotless, in pristine condition, and clearly very well cared for. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would absolutely rent from him again. Highly recommend!

We had an outstanding experience with this camper trailer rental in the Adirondacks last week. The unit was delivered right on time and was amazingly clean—everything inside was spotless and ready to go. It came fully equipped with everything we needed, so we didn’t have to scramble for any essentials. The host, Alex, was very friendly, professional, and informative. They took the time to walk us through the camper, answer all our questions, and make sure we felt comfortable before heading out. That personal touch really set the rental apart. We based ourselves near Long Lake and loved exploring the area. Highlights included grabbing ice cream at Hoss’s, catching some World Cup action at the Long Lake Diner and Owl’s Head Pub, and just soaking in the quiet lakes and mountain views. The Adirondacks never disappoint—peaceful mornings on the water and scenic drives through the woods made for some of our favorite moments. Overall, this was an easy, stress-free rental experience. Clean unit, reliable delivery, and genuinely helpful hosts. We’d happily rent from them again. Highly recommended!

Delta Lake State Park, NY, United States
The park sits about 6 miles north of downtown Rome, New York, via NY Route 46, a roughly 10 to 15 minute drive for RVs. Utica is about 20 miles southeast (around 30 minutes), Syracuse is about 55 miles west (around 1 hour 15 minutes), and Albany is about 100 miles east (around 2 hours) via the New York State Thruway (I-90) and NY Route 365. RV drivers should note that the New York State Thruway is a toll road with EZPass lanes and that commercial truck and bus parkway restrictions apply on some New York parkways, so RVs should stick to interstates and state highways. The nearest airport for fly-and-rent trips is Syracuse Hancock International Airport (SYR).
