Late May through early October is generally the best window for RV travel, when campgrounds are fully open, beaches and concessions are operating, and the bluff trails are clear of ice. Summer weekends and holidays book up far in advance, so midweek stays or shoulder-season trips in late May and September offer cooler hiking weather and fewer crowds. Fall color peaks from late September through mid-October across the Baraboo Hills. Winters are cold and snowy, with limited services and some camping loops closed.

Trailhead parking is available at the North Shore day-use area. dnr.wisconsin.gov/topic/parks/devilslake
Tumbled Rocks is a paved, mostly flat path that runs along the west shoreline of Devil's Lake beneath the West Bluff talus field. It is the most accessible trail in the park and connects the North Shore to the South Shore along the water. Expect crowds on summer weekends. dnr.wisconsin.gov/topic/parks/devilslake
The park has two sand swimming beaches on opposite ends of the lake with large day-use lots that accommodate RVs and tow vehicles. Visitors enjoy lakeshore picnic areas, swimming beaches, paddling opportunities, and year-round naturalist programs. Kayak, canoe, and paddleboard rentals are available seasonally at the concession. dnr.wisconsin.gov/topic/parks/devilslake
Devil's Lake is one of the marquee segments of the Ice Age National Scenic Trail, which traces features left by the last continental glacier. Devil's Lake State Park is situated along the Ice Age National Scenic Trail, and an Ice Age National Scenic Trail Passport Stamp is available at this location. Hikers can access the trail directly from park trailheads. nps.gov/places/devil-s-lake-state-park.htm
Balanced Rock and Devil's Doorway are iconic quartzite rock formations on the south end of the East Bluff. A short but very steep stone staircase climbs from the South Shore to reach them. The loop can be combined with the East Bluff Trail for a longer hike. dnr.wisconsin.gov/topic/parks/devilslake

Parfrey's Glen is Wisconsin's first designated State Natural Area, a narrow, moss-lined sandstone gorge located a short drive east of the main park. The out-and-back walk is under two miles round trip but includes rocky, often wet footing. Parking is limited, so arrive early in peak season. dnr.wisconsin.gov/topic/parks/devilslake
Simply Amazing and super accommodating. I had a very moving schedule due to weather and was flying own aircraft to the site of delivery. Handled my movements and requests graciously and is super lovely RV. Was perfect for our needs and owner is exceptional.

Ross was great to work with & the experience exceeded our expectations! He was very accommodating with pick up- we live out of state and ran into unexpected delays on our way to pick up. The rental was very clean, came stocked with anything we needed, and was a very pleasant experience. We will be repeat renters!

Devil's Lake State Park, WI, United States
Devil's Lake State Park is about a 45-minute drive (roughly 40 miles) north of Madison via US-12, and around 2.5 hours (about 120 miles) west of Milwaukee via I-94 and US-12. The Wisconsin Dells lie about 20 minutes to the north, making it an easy add-on for RV road trips. Approach roads are standard two-lane highways without major tunnels or steep mountain passes, but interior park roads are narrow and curving, so larger rigs should use caution near the South Shore area. The nearest major airport for fly-and-rent travelers is Dane County Regional Airport (MSN) in Madison.
