Ed Z'berg Sugar Pine Point State Park, CA, United States
The park is 10 miles south of Tahoe City via Highway 89 on Lake Tahoe's west shore. Truckee lies approximately 25-30 miles northeast; Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO) is about 60 miles south with roughly a 1-hour drive to the park. Winter travelers must note that Highway 89 at Emerald Bay is subject to temporary closures during heavy snowfall December through April, and chains are required for all vehicles during winter months. All RVs over 32 feet should verify access before arrival, as the road has mountain restrictions and tight curves; the nearest fly-and-rent RV services are near Reno.
The best time for warm-weather RV camping is late June through August, when daytime highs reach 75-82°F and skies are clear. July is peak season with excellent lake recreation, though campgrounds fill quickly. Shoulder seasons (May and September) offer quieter camping with temperatures in the 60s-70s°F. Winter brings reliable snow and cross-country skiing but Highway 89 at Emerald Bay may close temporarily during heavy snowfall December through April, and chains are required. Campgrounds operate year-round on a first-come, first-serve basis from October onward.

This popular 2-mile lakeside loop offers scenic lake views and passes by the historic lighthouse and sandy beach area. Easy walking with interpretive markers along the route.
A wide, level trail that begins at the General Creek Campground and follows the creek through forest to Lily Pond. Highly rated by visitors and the most popular trail for day hikes and camping visitors.
Sandy beach access with lake swimming in summer months. The park provides direct access to nearly 2 miles of Lake Tahoe frontage.
Over 20 kilometers of marked cross-country ski trails wind through the park's forests during winter, offering excellent snow sports access. Restrooms remain open.
The park protects the 1903 summer home known as Pine Lodge. Visitors can walk the historic grounds, tour the mansion, and enjoy the carefully maintained lakefront estate setting.
Dense pine, fir, aspen, and cedar forests provide shaded picnicking areas, wildlife viewing, and opportunities for relaxation away from summer crowds.

Denise and Andrew’s RV was excellent. It had everything we needed and more. This was our first time RV camping prior we did tent, van and pop up camper, and we greatly appreciated and loved this experience. Our family of 4 with two teens and a little pup were comfortable in the clean and beautiful space inside and out. We used the outdoor grill for all of our cooking needs. The shower and bathroom are spacious. Drop off and communication was friendly, patient and helpful. We enjoyed the Labor Day weekend in Zephyr Cove with the full hook up access We look forward to renting the RV again!
