Finlayson Point Provincial Park, ON, Canada
Finlayson Point is located just 1 km south of Temagami town, directly accessible via Ontario Highway 11. North Bay is approximately 60 miles (97 km) to the south, about 1 hour 12 minutes by car, while Sudbury is roughly 102 miles (164 km) to the west, approximately 2 hours 45 minutes away. The nearest major airport is in North Bay, making fly-and-rent accessible for some travelers. Highway 11 is a major provincial route with standard RV access.
The park operates from mid-May through mid-October. Summer months (June through August) offer the warmest weather, with highs around 23-25°C (73-77°F), making them peak season for boating, fishing, and swimming. Shoulder seasons (May and September) provide pleasant weather with fewer crowds, though Lake Temagami's cool water temperatures limit swimming comfort outside summer months. Winter closures from October onward make the park unavailable during cold months.

Hike to the historic 100-foot steel fire tower on Caribou Mountain for panoramic views over Lake Temagami, surrounding old-growth pine forest, and Temagami town. The tower is a regional landmark easily accessible from the park area. A parking lot and interpretive center are located near the trailhead, approximately 5 minutes from the campground.
Power boats are permitted on Lake Temagami, offering access to scenic island-dotted waters, hidden coves, and remote bays. Finlayson Point provides a boat launch, docking facilities, and boat basin accessible from the campground. Boaters can explore over 2,000 interconnected lakes via established routes.
Lake Temagami is renowned for excellent fishing year-round during the operating season. Target lake trout, walleye, northern pike, smallmouth bass, lake whitefish, rock bass, pumpkinseed, and yellow perch in cool, clear waters. A fish cleaning facility is available at the park.
Finlayson Point is a gateway to world-class paddling routes accessed via 2,000+ interconnected lakes linked by a 2,400 km portage network. Routes range from beginner-friendly day trips to remote backcountry expeditions. The park's boat launch and dock facilities support canoe and kayak access.
Two natural sand beaches with gradual drop-offs provide safe swimming in Lake Temagami. Beaches are marked with buoys and easily accessible from the campground. Water temperatures peak in July and August; spring and fall swimming is possible but cool.
Cyclists enjoy biking on park roads connecting the three campground loops and providing access to scenic views and facilities. The flat-to-rolling terrain and short distances make cycling accessible for most fitness levels and ages.
We planned a last minute trip to visit with family and Jen & Chris were absolutely amazing in accomodating our rental. Jen answered all questions quickly and they both truly went above and beyond to make our stay incredible. The trailer was completely set up when we arrived and I sincerely appreciated all the extra touches that made this a home away from home. I would not hesitate to book with them again in the future, hopefully next time will be planned a bit further in advance.
