Best time to visit Fitzgerald's Pond Provincial Park

The park is a summer-season destination, with July and August offering the warmest temperatures, longest daylight, and the most reliable conditions for swimming and paddling. Late June and early September act as shoulder seasons with cooler nights, fewer bugs, and quieter campsites, which suits RV travelers looking to avoid peak crowds. Spring and fall can bring cold rain and fog typical of the Burin Peninsula, so travelers should watch forecasts closely. Winter travel is not supported, as the park and its access services close outside the summer operating season.

How to get to Fitzgerald's Pond Provincial Park

The park sits along Route 210 on the Burin Peninsula, roughly a 2 to 2.5 hour drive (about 200 km) southwest of St. John's via the Trans-Canada Highway and the Route 210 junction near Goobies. Marystown is about an hour further south, and the ferry terminal at Fortune is roughly 2 hours from the park. Route 210 is a paved two-lane highway with long rural stretches, variable shoulders, and frequent fog and moose activity, so RV drivers should reduce speed at dawn and dusk and carry extra fuel. The nearest major airport for fly-and-rent travelers is St. John's International Airport (YYT).
