Late June through August is the prime window, when the swim beach is staffed, water temperatures are comfortable, and the surrounding White Mountains are fully open for RV touring. Early September offers quieter visits and cooler, bug-free picnicking, though beach services wind down after Labor Day. Spring and late fall are generally too cold for swimming, and the park operates only seasonally. Winter is not a practical time to visit, as facilities are closed and access roads may be snow-covered.

The sandy swim beach is the main attraction at Forest Lake State Park, with a gently sloping shoreline that works well for families. A bathhouse and picnic area sit just back from the water.
Shaded picnic tables and grills line the grassy area above the beach, making the park a convenient midday stop for RV travelers touring Route 2 and the northern White Mountains. Restrooms are available in the bathhouse.
Forest Lake is a calm, small lake suitable for kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards launched from the beach area. Motorized use is limited, keeping the water quiet for paddlers.
Anglers cast from shore for warm-water species typical of northern New Hampshire lakes. A current New Hampshire fishing license is required for anyone aged 16 and older.
A scenic side trip in nearby Lancaster climbs Mount Prospect to the historic Weeks estate and a fire tower with sweeping views of the Presidential Range. The narrow auto road is best suited to tow vehicles rather than full-size RVs.
The nearby town of Jefferson is home to Santa's Village, a family theme park a short drive from Forest Lake. Whitefield also offers small-town dining and services useful to RV travelers.
Forest Lake makes a convenient base for day trips south into the White Mountain National Forest. Mount Washington, Bretton Woods, and Franconia Notch are all within roughly an hour's drive.

Forest Lake State Park, NH, United States
The park sits in Dalton, New Hampshire, just off Route 116, a short drive from Whitefield and Littleton. From Littleton it is roughly a 20 minute drive, from North Conway about 1 hour 15 minutes, and from Manchester around 2 hours 15 minutes via I-93 and Route 3. RV drivers should be aware of steep grades on I-93 through Franconia Notch Parkway, where combined vehicle length restrictions and narrow lanes apply, so larger rigs may prefer I-91 to Route 2. The nearest airport for fly-and-rent travelers is Manchester-Boston Regional Airport, with Burlington International in Vermont as an alternate.
