Late June through early September offers the warmest weather, the longest daylight, and the clearest long-range views from the lookoff. July and August bring peak summer crowds, while September is a quieter shoulder month with cool, crisp air and early fall colour across the surrounding hills. The park is typically closed or unmaintained from late autumn through spring due to snow and ice on the access road.

The Greenhill Lookoff is the park's signature attraction, offering a sweeping panorama over Pictou County's farmland, forests, and the Northumberland Strait in the distance. A short walk from the parking area leads to open viewing spots suitable for photography at sunrise and sunset.
Greenhill's grassy summit is set up for day-use picnicking with tables and open lawn space. It is a convenient lunch stop for RVers travelling between Halifax and Cape Breton on Highway 104.
A brief, gentle walking path circles portions of the hilltop and provides multiple viewpoints across the valley below. The route is flat enough for casual strollers and families with young children.
The open hilltop and limited nearby light pollution make Greenhill a solid spot for casual stargazing on clear summer evenings. Visitors should check posted hours, as the park is intended for day use.
The nearby town of Pictou is about a 20 minute drive and features a historic waterfront, the Hector Heritage Quay, and seafood restaurants. RV-friendly parking is available along the harbour area.
Caribou Munroes Island Provincial Park, about 35 km north of Greenhill, offers sandy Northumberland Strait beaches and coastal trails. It is also a common overnight base for RV travellers exploring the region.

Greenhill Provincial Park, NS, Canada
Greenhill Provincial Park is roughly a 15 to 20 minute drive from New Glasgow and Pictou via Highway 104 and local roads through Hopewell. From Halifax, plan on about 1 hour 45 minutes (around 160 km) via Highway 102 and Highway 104. The final approach climbs a steep, narrow rural road to the summit, so large RVs and trailers should drive slowly, watch for tight turns, and be prepared to back out if the small gravel lot is full. The nearest airport for fly-and-rent travellers is Halifax Stanfield International Airport (YHZ).
