Late June through August is the most popular window, with warm Lake Michigan beach days, fully open campground loops, and long evenings at the observatory. Early September through mid-October is an excellent shoulder season for RV travel, offering cooler nights, fewer crowds, and fall color in the hardwood forest. Spring visits from mid-April to early June are quieter and good for birding, though Lake Michigan stays cold for swimming. Winter access is limited to day use, with the campground typically closed.

A long cobble and sand beach on Lake Michigan is the centerpiece of Harrington Beach State Park. Visitors swim, sunbathe, walk the shore, and watch lake freighters in the distance. Accessible boardwalks lead from a paved parking lot down to the beach.
A flat, family-friendly loop circles the spring-fed Quarry Lake formed in a former limestone quarry. The roughly 1-mile loop has interpretive signs about the park's quarrying history and offers fishing access and birding spots. Paved parking near the trailhead can fit larger vehicles.
The welcome center serves as the day-use hub with restrooms, exhibits, and a large picnic area under mature trees. Picnic shelters can be reserved for groups, and the parking area accommodates trailers and motorhomes during day visits.
Public stargazing programs are hosted at the on-site observatory operated by the Northern Cross Science Foundation. Evening events take advantage of the park's relatively dark skies along the Lake Michigan shoreline. Check the foundation's schedule before planning a visit.
Several miles of multi-use trails wind through hardwood forest, wetlands, and open meadows. Trails connect the campground, Quarry Lake, and the Lake Michigan shore for a longer loop. Most surfaces are packed dirt or grass and are suitable for casual hikers.
Quarry Lake is stocked and managed for shore fishing, with anglers targeting trout and panfish. A Wisconsin fishing license is required for anglers age 16 and older. Several accessible fishing spots are located along the loop trail.
When snow conditions allow, the park's trails are open to cross-country skiing and winter hiking. The campground is closed in winter, but day-use parking remains plowed. Bring traction devices for icy boardwalks near the lake.
James was excellent. We enjoyed our time and would definitely consider renting from him again in the future!

This RV was exactly what our weekend at Road America needed. James delivered right on time and picked up promptly too. All the essentials worked perfectly and we were able to keep warm on cold days and sleep well too. I would 100% rent again from James in this area.

Had an amazing stay thanks to Crystle! Definitely would recommend as the trailer is very updated and has great amenities. Crystle was easy to communicate with and I would definitely book with her again!

Harrington Beach State Park, WI, United States
The park is just off Interstate 43 near the village of Belgium, roughly a 40 to 45 minute drive north of Milwaukee and about 1 hour south of Green Bay. From I-43, exit at County Highway D and follow signs east toward the lake on paved county roads suitable for RVs and travel trailers. There are no tunnels, mountain passes, or steep grades on the approach, but watch for low-clearance signs in nearby small towns and use caution on the final park entrance road. The closest major airport for fly-and-rent travelers is Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport (MKE), with area RV pickups within an hour of the park.
