The park is located 10 miles north of Santa Cruz and approximately 30-35 miles south of San Jose. From San Jose, take Highway 17 southbound; exit at Mount Hermon Road and follow it to Graham Hill Road, then continue to the campground entrance at 2591 Graham Hill Road in Scotts Valley. The route involves narrow mountain roads without tunnels or extreme grades. The nearest airport is San Jose International (approximately 33 miles, 45 minutes), which serves fly-and-rent options for RV visitors.
Late May through early October offers the best conditions for RV travel, with warm days, minimal rainfall, and fully open facilities. Summer months are dry and sunny with temperatures in the 70s-80s Fahrenheit, though coastal fog occurs in early mornings. Late spring and early fall provide mild weather with fewer crowds than peak summer, making these shoulder seasons ideal for RV camping.

This easy 0.8-mile loop winds through the park's famous 40-acre ancient redwood grove featuring trees up to 277 feet tall and 1,500 years old. A 5-mile trail following the scenic San Lorenzo River through mixed forest and redwoods, offering views of water and wildlife. The route includes Cable Car Beach, a small sandy swimming hole suitable for wading on warm days.
