Late June through early September is the peak RV season, with warm days, swimming at the lake beach, and full campground services. Late May and September offer cooler nights, fewer bugs, and easier reservations, making them strong shoulder-season picks. October brings vivid hardwood foliage across the Pennsylvania Wilds and is ideal for scenic drives, though overnight temperatures drop quickly. Winters are cold and snowy, and most modern RV facilities are closed or limited from late fall through early spring.

Hills Creek Lake is a 137-acre electric-motors-only lake well suited to canoes, kayaks, and small electric-powered boats. Boat launches and rentals are available seasonally, and the quiet water is ideal for novice paddlers and family outings.
The Lakeside Trail is an easy loop that traces much of the shoreline of Hills Creek Lake. It offers gentle terrain, frequent water views, and good chances to spot beavers, ducks, and herons in the marshy coves.
The park's sand beach on Hills Creek Lake is open from late spring through early fall during posted hours. Swimming is at your own risk, with changing facilities and picnic areas nearby.
Hills Creek Lake is stocked and managed for warmwater species including largemouth bass, chain pickerel, panfish, and catfish. A valid Pennsylvania fishing license is required, and shoreline and boat fishing are both popular.
Pine Creek Gorge, also known as the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon, lies a short drive south of the park near Wellsboro. Leonard Harrison and Colton Point state parks offer overlooks, hiking, and views of the gorge from both rims.
The Pine Creek Rail Trail runs through the gorge for about 62 miles on a flat, crushed-stone surface. It is accessible from trailheads near Ansonia and Wellsboro, with parking that accommodates RV-towed vehicles.
The park's mix of forest, lake, and wetlands supports beavers, white-tailed deer, wild turkeys, and a variety of waterfowl and songbirds. Early morning along the lake and marshes is the most productive time.
When snow conditions allow, the park's trails and frozen lake support cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and ice fishing. The campground is closed in winter, so most visits are day-use trips from nearby lodging.
We had an awesome experience renting Mikayla’s camper and would absolutely rent it again! From the first moment we spoke, to picking it up and dropping it off, everything was simple and stress-free. Hitching and unhitching were easy, and Mikayla had everything we needed for full hookups—sewer line, water hoses, water filter, and even a drill for the leveling jacks. What really impressed us was how well stocked the camper was. Plates, silverware, cooking supplies, sugar, cooking spray, beds with full linens, and towels—you could tell a lot of thought went into making sure guests had everything they needed. There was plenty of room for our family of four, and we had a fantastic camping trip. If you’re considering renting this camper, I highly recommend it!
