Mid-June through late August offers the warmest weather, the longest daylight hours, and the best conditions for swimming and boating on Lake Winnipeg. July and early August are the busiest weeks, so RV sites go quickly on weekends and long weekends. Late May and September are quieter shoulder periods with cooler nights and fewer bugs, though some services may be reduced. The park and its campground are not operated during the winter months.

The park's sandy beach on Lake Winnipeg is the main attraction, offering swimming, sunbathing, and shoreline walks. A day-use area with picnic tables is located close to the beach and within easy reach of the campground.
An on-site boat launch provides direct access to Lake Winnipeg for motorboats, fishing craft, and paddlecraft. The launch is used by both day visitors and campers during the open-water season.
Lake Winnipeg is known for walleye, sauger, and northern pike, and anglers can cast from shore or launch a boat from the park. A valid Manitoba fishing licence is required.
The town of Gimli, about 40 km south, is the cultural heart of Manitoba's Icelandic community and features a waterfront harbour, the Viking statue, and the New Iceland Heritage Museum. It is an easy day trip from the park with plenty of RV-friendly parking near the waterfront.
Hecla Island, accessed by causeway roughly an hour north, offers additional hiking trails, wildlife viewing, and marshland boardwalks. Day visitors from Hnausa Beach often combine a morning at the lake with an afternoon on Hecla.
The Lake Winnipeg shoreline and nearby marshes host pelicans, cormorants, herons, and a variety of migratory waterfowl. Early morning and evening near the beach and boat launch are productive times for viewing.
The west-shore setting means sunrises over Lake Winnipeg are a signature experience at Hnausa Beach, with the open water facing east. Calm summer evenings are also popular for strolling the beach as the light fades.
We enjoyed our experience. Lots of room. The grandkids had so much fun camping.

Really great experience. Owner was very helpful, set everything up, and took the time to answer any questions we had as first time RV renters as well as made themselves available for any questions or concerns during our stay. RV was clean and had the essentials and a good amount of space for our family. We have no complaints and would use this RV again!

Hnausa Beach Provincial Park, MB, Canada
From Winnipeg, the drive is roughly 170 km north on Highway 8 or Highway 9 through Gimli and Riverton, taking about two hours. From Arborg the park is a short drive east on paved secondary roads. Routes are flat with no tunnels or mountain passes, making the trip straightforward for larger RVs, though side roads near the lake can be narrow and sandy in spots. The nearest major airport for fly-and-rent travellers is Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport.
