Best time to visit Homolovi State Park

Spring (March through May) and fall (September through early November) are the most comfortable months, with mild daytime temperatures and cool evenings ideal for RV camping. Summer days can climb into the 90s F, though low humidity and high elevation keep nights pleasant. Winter visits are possible and popular with snowbirds, but expect freezing overnight temperatures and occasional snow. Spring winds can be strong on the open plateau, so plan for blustery afternoons.

How to get to Homolovi State Park

The park sits about 5 miles north of Winslow, Arizona, off State Route 87, just north of Interstate 40. From Flagstaff the drive is roughly 60 miles (about one hour) east on I-40, and from Albuquerque it is approximately 260 miles (four hours) west. Interstate 40 is RV-friendly with no tunnels or steep mountain passes on the approach, but crosswinds across the Colorado Plateau can be significant for tall rigs.
