Late June through early September offers the warmest, driest weather and the most reliable conditions for hiking, picnicking, and riverside activities. May and September are strong shoulder options for RV travelers who want cooler temperatures, smaller crowds, and easier reservations. Spring can be wet but brings the biggest whitewater flows on the Green River, while fall delivers crisp forest color before winter rains set in.
Cold and wet; check for winter campground closures or limited loops
Wet and cool; occasional lowland snow possible
Rainy spring; Green River runs high with snowmelt

Very wet; confirm campground loop availability
Cold and wet; some loops may be closed, day-use typically open
The park provides one of the main put-in and take-out points for rafting and kayaking the Green River Gorge. The reach below the park includes Class III and IV rapids best suited to experienced boaters or guided trips.
The day-use area sits on a forested bluff above the Green River with picnic tables, shelters, and short paths down to quieter pools. It is an easy stop for RV travelers looking to stretch out beside the water.
A network of short, mostly flat trails loops through second-growth Douglas fir and cedar forest between the campground and river overlooks. Most routes are suitable for families and casual walkers staying in the campground.
Anglers can fish the Green River from bank access points within the park during open seasons set by Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. Check current regulations and license requirements before casting.
The riverine forest supports pileated woodpeckers, kingfishers, varied thrushes, deer, and occasional black bear. Quiet morning and evening walks near the river are the best times to spot wildlife.
Covered picnic shelters and open lawn areas make the park a popular spot for day-use gatherings. Reservable shelters are available for larger groups through Washington State Parks.
The park works well as a quiet RV base for day trips to Mount Rainier National Park's Sunrise and Carbon River entrances and the farm country around Enumclaw. Expect 60 to 90 minute drives to the main Rainier gateways.
We had such a great weekend camping in the Memory Maker! Danielle has thought of everything when it comes to making life easy while you are “roughing it”. We felt cozy and comfortable sleeping as a family of 5. It was easy to pull behind our Tahoe as well. Great experience all around, we already have our next trip booked!

Danielle is a great host! The trailer was wonderfully laid out and perfect for a family of four. It was very clean and everything worked perfectly! Our family had a great time and would definitely rent from Danielle again!

Kanaskat-Palmer State Park, WA, United States
The park sits near Ravensdale and Cumberland, about 45 miles southeast of Seattle via WA-18 and WA-169, typically a 1 hour to 1.5 hour drive. From Tacoma it is roughly 40 miles via WA-410 and Enumclaw, and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport is the nearest major airport for fly-and-rent travelers. Access roads are paved but narrow, winding, and lined with trees, so larger RVs should take curves slowly, watch for low branches, and avoid shortcut forest roads that are not maintained for big rigs.
