Late June through early September is the most popular window, with warm days, reliable lake swimming, and full campground operations. July and August bring peak demand, so RV sites should be booked well ahead. Early June and September are strong shoulder-season picks for cooler nights, fewer crowds, and active wine-trail tastings during harvest. Spring can be wet and the campground operates on a seasonal schedule, so travelers should confirm opening and closing dates before arriving.

The park has a designated swimming area on Keuka Lake with lifeguards during the summer season. The clear, cool water is a highlight for families staying at the campground.
An on-site boat launch provides direct access to Keuka Lake for motorboats, kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards. The Y-shaped lake gives boaters plenty of room to explore multiple arms in a single trip.
Keuka Lake is a popular Finger Lakes fishery known for lake trout, smallmouth bass, and rainbow trout. Anglers can cast from shore within the park or launch a boat to reach deeper water.
The park has picnic tables and pavilions set above the shoreline with open views across Keuka Lake. It is an easy lunchtime break for RV travelers circling the lake.
Short wooded trails loop through the park's forested upland sections above the lake. These paths are suitable for casual walks and quick nature outings from the campground.
The park sits along the Keuka Lake Wine Trail, which links small wineries around the lakeshore. RV travelers often tour a few tasting rooms by car and return to camp in the evening.
Watkins Glen State Park, with its famous gorge trail and waterfalls, is roughly an hour's drive south. It pairs well with a base camp at Keuka Lake for a broader Finger Lakes itinerary.

Keuka Lake State Park, NY, United States
The park sits on the west side of Keuka Lake, a short drive from Penn Yan and Hammondsport. Rochester is roughly an hour and 15 minutes north, Syracuse is about two hours east, and Buffalo is around two hours west, making Greater Rochester International Airport the most practical fly-and-rent option. Approaches from New York State Route 54A follow narrow, winding lake roads with some rolling grades, so RV drivers should plan for slower speeds and limited shoulder room. There are no major tunnels or mountain passes, but larger rigs should avoid tight village streets and use state highways where possible.
