Shoulder months of May, June, and September bring fewer crowds, cooler temperatures, and more site availability, though rain is more likely. Winter visits are possible but wet, with short daylight hours and frequent Pacific storms blowing in off the coast; the campground is typically closed from late fall through early spring.

Really great RV that was easy to drive and worked really well. Lots of space with the pop out, AC blows cold and the heating is warm. Was very comfortable the whole time. Steve the host is great and took the time to show me how everything worked in detail and had me completely comfortable to go on my trip. Can’t recommend this rental enough. Thank you.

Don and his wife were great hosts! The RV was in great condition, ran well, and they were both easy to communicate with. We were happy to see they even provided amenities such as kitchen appliances, plates, utensils, chairs and a BBQ. We would definitely go through them on our next trip if the RV is available!

The Leggs were really great and we appreciated the supplies that were included. There were camp chairs and even an outdoor grill.

How to get to Lake Sylvia State Park

The park sits about 1 mile north of Montesano off U.S. Highway 12, roughly a 30-mile drive west of Olympia and about 90 miles (around 2 hours) southwest of Seattle via I-5 and US-12. RV drivers should note the narrow, winding county road leading from Montesano up to the park entrance, which has tight turns and limited shoulders, so long rigs and towables should take it slowly. There are no tunnels or steep mountain passes on the approach from I-5, but coastal weather can bring heavy rain and reduced visibility. The nearest major airport for fly-and-rent trips is Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA), about 2.5 hours away by road.
