  • Fishing Pier and Boat Launch Easy
    RV parking available

A public pier and small boat launch give RV travelers easy saltwater access for fishing, kayaking, and small craft boating. Striped bass, mackerel, and flounder are common seasonal catches. The launch area has vehicle parking nearby.

  • Picnic Area Overlook Easy
    RV parking available

A shoreline picnic area offers tables, grills, and open views across the bay toward Acadia. It is a relaxed spot for a meal between campground time and day trips. The grass and gravel paths are mostly flat.

  • Campground Nature Walk Easy
    RV parking available

Short walking paths wind through the wooded campground and along the shore, suitable for most abilities. Birdwatching is productive in the mixed spruce and hardwood forest. The loop connects camping areas with the beach and pier.

  • Day Trip to Acadia National Park Moderate

Acadia National Park is about a 45 minute drive away and offers the Park Loop Road, Cadillac Mountain, Jordan Pond, and extensive hiking. Many visitors use Lamoine as a quieter base camp while exploring Acadia. Parking in Acadia can be tight for larger RVs, so day-trip vehicles are recommended.

  • Kayaking on Frenchman Bay Moderate
    RV parking available

Calm mornings on Frenchman Bay are ideal for sea kayaking along the Lamoine shoreline. Paddlers often see seals, eagles, and ospreys. Launch from the park's boat ramp and stay aware of tides and boat traffic.

  • Ellsworth and Downeast Exploring Easy

The nearby town of Ellsworth offers grocery stores, restaurants, and supplies useful for RV travelers. Scenic drives along Route 1 lead to Downeast coastal villages and lighthouses. It is a short drive from the park.

How to get to Lamoine State Park

The park is about 8 miles southeast of Ellsworth via Route 184, roughly a 15 minute drive, and around 45 minutes from Bar Harbor by way of Route 3 and Route 204. From Bangor it is about a 40 mile drive, generally 50 to 60 minutes on Route 1A and Route 184. Roads into the park are paved coastal routes without tunnels or steep mountain passes, but the final approach is a narrow two-lane road, so large RVs should drive cautiously and watch for tight turns near the campground entrance. The nearest airport for fly-and-rent trips is Bangor International Airport (BGR), with Hancock County-Bar Harbor Airport (BHB) closer but smaller.
