Late spring through early fall is the most comfortable window for RV trips, with May, June, and September offering warm days, lower humidity, and smaller crowds than midsummer. July and August bring peak swim-beach and boat-rental season, along with the busiest weekends. October delivers strong fall color across the southern Appalachians, while winter visits are quiet because the campground and seasonal facilities close from late fall through early spring.

The park's 18-acre lake is the centerpiece for non-motorized boating. Seasonal rentals of paddleboats, kayaks, and canoes are available, and visitors can also bring their own electric-motor or hand-powered craft.
Anglers can fish from the shoreline or from a boat for stocked trout, bass, bluegill, and catfish. A West Virginia fishing license is required for anyone 15 and older.
The park maintains a network of multi-use trails through hardwood forest above the lake. Routes range from short loops near the day-use area to longer single-track segments popular with mountain bikers.
A dedicated disc golf course winds through the wooded park grounds. It is free to play and welcomes all skill levels.
The lakeside swim area opens during the warm-season months along with picnic shelters, grills, and a playground. Shelters can be reserved in advance for groups.
The New River is among the oldest rivers on the continent, and the national park encompasses tens of thousands of acres along the river with abundant scenic and recreational opportunities. The Grandview area of the national park sits just minutes from Little Beaver via I-64 Exit 129. nps.gov/neri/index.htm
This 5.6 mile trail follows an abandoned narrow-gauge railroad along Glade Creek, offers an enjoyable stroll at a very moderate grade, and is popular with hikers of all ages and abilities, with a number of cascades and small waterfalls along the way. A high clearance four wheel drive vehicle is recommended for the access road, so RVs should park up top and use a tow vehicle. nps.gov/places/glade-creek-trail.htm

Little Beaver State Park, WV, United States
The park sits just off Interstate 64 at Exit 129 (Grandview), roughly 10 minutes from downtown Beckley, about 1 hour from Charleston, West Virginia, and about 2.5 hours from Roanoke, Virginia. Access roads from I-64 are paved and suitable for standard RVs, but the surrounding region is mountainous with steep grades and long climbs on I-77 and the West Virginia Turnpike, so drivers of larger motorhomes should plan fuel stops and check brakes before descending into the New River valley. Yeager Airport (CRW) in Charleston and Raleigh County Memorial Airport (BKW) near Beckley are the closest options for fly-and-rent travelers.
