Late June through August is the prime window, with warm days, swimmable lake temperatures, and all campground loops open. Early September brings cooler nights, fewer bugs, and the start of fall foliage in the surrounding hills, which is a strong shoulder-season choice for RV travel. Late May and early June can be buggy with black flies and mosquitoes. The park is a seasonal operation and is closed through the winter months.

The park's sandy day-use beach on Maidstone Lake is the main swimming area, with clear, deep water and a grassy picnic area. Day-use parking accommodates tow vehicles and smaller RVs.
Maidstone Lake is a deep, glacially formed lake prized for cold, clear water and quiet paddling. A state boat launch at the park provides access for kayaks, canoes, and small motorboats.
Maidstone Lake is one of Vermont's premier lakes for cold-water species including lake trout and landlocked salmon. A valid Vermont fishing license is required.
The Shore Trail follows the lakeshore through mature spruce-fir forest, offering quiet lake views and wildlife watching. It is a short, relatively level walk suitable for most visitors.
The Moose Trail climbs through northern hardwood forest above the lake and is known for moose sign and birdlife. Expect a moderate grade on a natural surface footpath.
Maidstone Lake is a well-known nesting lake for the common loon, and the surrounding forest supports moose, black bear, and a variety of boreal birds. Dawn and dusk from the beach, boat launch, or a canoe are the best viewing times.
The day-use area beside the beach offers picnic tables, grills, and a picnic shelter under tall conifers. It is a good midday stop for RV travelers exploring the Northeast Kingdom.

Maidstone State Park, VT, United States
The park sits in far northeastern Vermont off State Route 102, roughly a 10 to 15 minute drive south of Bloomfield and about 45 minutes north of St. Johnsbury via I-91 and US-2. From Burlington, VT plan on about a 2.5 to 3 hour drive, and from Montreal roughly 3 hours. RV drivers should note that the final approach on State Forest Highway is a narrow, winding gravel park road with tight turns, so large Class A and long fifth-wheel rigs should proceed slowly. The nearest commercial airport for fly-and-rent trips is Burlington International Airport (BTV).
