Late May through early October is the most reliable window for RV travel, with warm days, full campground operations, and access to swimming, paddling, and the boat launch. July and August bring the warmest water and the busiest weekends, so reservations are typically essential. Shoulder months of May, September, and early October offer cooler nights, fewer mosquitoes, and easier site availability, with peak fall color usually arriving in early to mid October. Winter visits are possible for day use, but most camping loops close and services are limited.

Mirror Lake's no-wake rules and tall sandstone walls make it one of the most popular flatwater paddling spots in southern Wisconsin. Canoes, kayaks, and stand-up paddleboards launch from the park boat landing and can explore narrow gorges and quiet coves. Rentals are typically available at the park concession in summer.
These short, well-marked loops lead from the campgrounds to overlooks above Mirror Lake's sandstone bluffs. The trails wind through pine forest with several scenic vantage points over the water. Trailheads are accessed directly from RV campground loops.
The Northwest Trail is the park's longer hiking loop, offering a quieter forested route on the lake's north side. It travels through oak and pine woods with seasonal wildflowers and good birdwatching. Parking is available at a dedicated trailhead lot suited to most RVs and tow vehicles.
The park's sandy swim beach sits on a sheltered bay of Mirror Lake with a roped swim area and adjacent picnic ground. Picnic shelters, grills, and restrooms make it a convenient family stop. The day-use lot has space for tow vehicles after dropping a trailer at the campsite.
Mirror Lake holds largemouth bass, northern pike, panfish, and walleye, and the no-wake setting makes it relaxing to fish from a small boat or kayak. Shore fishing is available near the boat landing and along marked access points. A Wisconsin fishing license is required.
Designated multi-use trails offer rolling, beginner-friendly mountain biking through pine plantations and mixed hardwoods. Routes connect the campgrounds to the day-use area, making it easy to ride from your RV site. Helmets are recommended and trails can be sandy after rain.
In winter the park grooms cross-country ski trails through the same forested terrain used for summer hiking. Snowshoeing is allowed on designated routes, and the day-use area remains open even when campgrounds close. A trail pass is required for skiers age 16 and older.
The park sits just minutes from downtown Wisconsin Dells, home to boat tours of the Dells of the Wisconsin River, waterparks, and the Tommy Bartlett area. Using the park as a quieter overnight base lets RVers enjoy the Dells attractions without paying commercial campground rates. Plan for heavier traffic on summer weekends.
Simply Amazing and super accommodating. I had a very moving schedule due to weather and was flying own aircraft to the site of delivery. Handled my movements and requests graciously and is super lovely RV. Was perfect for our needs and owner is exceptional.

Mirror Lake State Park, WI, United States
The park is just off Interstate 90/94 near Lake Delton, about 5 miles south of Wisconsin Dells, roughly 50 miles (about 1 hour) northwest of Madison and around 115 miles (about 2 hours) northwest of Milwaukee. From the interstate, RVers exit at Highway 12 and follow Fern Dell Road into the park; the approach roads are paved and have no tunnels, low bridges, or steep mountain grades, making it one of the easier Wisconsin state parks for larger rigs. Watch for tight turns and overhanging trees on the inner campground loops, and note seasonal weight or width restrictions on local town roads. The nearest commercial airport for fly-and-rent travelers is Dane County Regional Airport (MSN) in Madison.
