Late June through August offers the warmest weather, full campground operations, and the best conditions for swimming and brook fishing. September into early October brings cooler nights, fewer bugs, and peak fall foliage in the surrounding White Mountains, which is a popular shoulder season for RV travel. May and early June are quieter but can be cool, wet, and buggy. The campground is closed in winter, when the surrounding region shifts to snow sports.

Moose Brook State Park has a developed swimming area fed by cold mountain brooks. It is a popular cool-down spot on warm summer afternoons and is a short walk from the campground loops.
Moose Brook and Perkins Brook offer wild and stocked brook trout fishing within the park. A current New Hampshire fishing license is required for anglers age 16 and over.
Trails from the park area connect into the Randolph Community Forest and the Crescent Range, including routes toward Mount Crescent and Lookout Ledge. Routes are rocky and rooted in classic White Mountains style.

Moose Brook State Park, NH, United States
The park is just west of Gorham, New Hampshire, on US Route 2, roughly a 2.5 hour drive north of Manchester and about 3.5 hours from Boston. From the south, most RVs approach via I-93 to US 3 and NH 115, or via NH 16 through Pinkham Notch, which has steep grades and tight curves below Mount Washington that should be driven cautiously in a large rig. The closest commercial airports for fly-and-rent trips are Portland International Jetport in Maine, about two hours east, and Manchester-Boston Regional Airport to the south. Watch for moose on area highways, especially at dawn and dusk.
