Late June through early September is peak season, with warm weather ideal for the beach, paddling, and the full campground operation. May, early June, and September into early October offer cooler temperatures, fewer crowds, and excellent fall foliage in the Palmertown Range, all good conditions for RV travel. Winter brings snow and limits camping to day-use access only. RV renters who want quieter sites should target shoulder weeks before Memorial Day and after Labor Day.

Moreau Lake offers a guarded sandy swimming beach on the spring-fed 128-acre lake at the heart of the park. Picnic tables, a bathhouse, and shallow water make it a family-friendly base for warm-weather days. The day-use lot has space for larger vehicles.
The Western Ridge Trail climbs above Moreau Lake for panoramic views of the Hudson River valley and Palmertown Range. The loop options range from a few miles to longer connections through the park's trail network. Trailhead parking near the campground accommodates standard tow vehicles.
Spring Overlook Trail is a short climb to a rocky vantage point overlooking the lake and surrounding ridges. The route is family-friendly and well-marked. Parking is available near the main day-use area.
Moreau Lake permits canoeing, kayaking, and small-boat fishing with electric motors only, keeping the lake quiet. Anglers target bass, perch, and stocked trout. A car-top boat launch sits near the day-use area with adjacent parking.
The park's northern boundary fronts the Hudson River with hand-launch access for paddlers. Quiet stretches are popular for flatwater kayaking and shoreline fishing. Reach the access via park roads suitable for towed kayaks and small trailers.
Moreau Lake connects to a wider Palmertown Range trail network running south toward Saratoga Spa State Park. Routes range from short loops to all-day ridge hikes through hardwood forest. Multiple trailheads inside the park have day-use parking suitable for trucks and SUVs.
Winter visitors use the park's trail system for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing once snow accumulates. The campground is closed in winter, but the day-use area remains open with plowed parking. Ungroomed trails follow summer hiking routes through the woods.

Brandon was an exceptional host. Everything was ready to go and he explained the rental thoroughly as it was my first time renting. Very professional and a pleasure to work with. If you're looking to rent a camper, Brandon is the one to see.

**5 Stars – The Little Ditty Was a Dream!** We had such an amazing experience renting *The Little Ditty*! The RV itself was adorable – clean, cozy, and stocked with everything we needed for a comfortable getaway. Whether we were camping by the coast or tucked into the trees, it felt like a perfect little home on wheels. But what truly made this rental stand out were Ryanna & Derek. They were absolutely fantastic from start to finish – incredibly helpful, friendly, and excellent communicators. They walked us through everything clearly, answered all our questions with patience, and made sure we felt completely confident and taken care of. Their kindness and attention to detail really made the whole experience smooth and stress-free. We can’t recommend *The Little Ditty* – and Ryanna & Derek – highly enough. If you’re looking for a unique RV adventure with awesome hosts, this is the one!

Moreau Lake State Park, NY, United States
The park sits just off Interstate 87 (the Adirondack Northway) at Exit 17S, roughly 15 minutes north of Saratoga Springs and about 45 minutes north of Albany. From the south, allow about 3.5 hours from New York City and 3 hours from Boston using I-87 and I-90. RV drivers should plan for rolling terrain on local approach roads, low-clearance bridges in nearby village centers, and seasonal frost heaves typical of the Adirondack foothills. Albany International Airport (ALB) is the nearest major airport, about 50 minutes south, suitable for fly-and-rent trips.
