July and August are the best months to visit, offering the warmest ocean temperatures for swimming, fully open campground services, and predictable sunny weather. Late June and early September are excellent shoulder-season options for RV travelers who want lower occupancy and cooler nights while facilities remain open. Outside the short summer operating window, the park and campground are closed, so trip planning must fall within the seasonal dates.

Panmure Island Beach is a long, supervised white-sand beach with warm saltwater and grassy dunes directly adjacent to the campground. The gentle slope and shallow approach make it family friendly, and day-use parking accommodates RVs during peak periods.
Panmure Head Lighthouse is the oldest wooden lighthouse on Prince Edward Island and stands at the eastern tip of the island near the park. Visitors can climb the tower for panoramic views of the Northumberland Strait and Cardigan Bay during summer opening hours.
Cardigan Bay and the sheltered waters around Panmure Island offer calm conditions ideal for sea kayaking and paddleboarding. Outfitters in nearby Georgetown and Montague rent equipment and run guided trips along the coast.
Low boardwalks and informal paths lead through the park's protected dune system and out to quieter stretches of sand. Early mornings and evenings are prime times for beachcombing, birdwatching, and spotting shorebirds along the tide line.
Georgetown is a small shipbuilding village about 20 minutes from the park with a working harbour, seafood restaurants, and the restored Kings Playhouse theatre. It is a convenient day trip for RVers looking to resupply and explore local history.
The Confederation Trail is a tip-to-tip rail-trail that crosses PEI, with a scenic spur running through Montague near the park. The crushed-stone surface is flat and well graded, suitable for casual cyclists and families.
Charter boats depart from nearby harbours such as Georgetown and Launching, offering half-day mackerel and cod trips in the Northumberland Strait. Trips are seasonal and typically run from late June through September.

Panmure Island Provincial Park, PE, Canada
Panmure Island Provincial Park sits along Route 347 in eastern PEI, roughly a 60 km drive (about one hour) from Charlottetown and approximately 20 km from Montague. Access is via the Points East Coastal Drive and a low-lying sandbar causeway, which is passable for standard RVs but can be affected by storm surges and high tides, so check conditions before towing. There are no mountain passes or tunnel restrictions, but the final rural roads are narrow with soft shoulders, so slow speeds are recommended for larger rigs. The nearest airport for fly-and-rent travelers is Charlottetown Airport (YYG), about 65 km west.
