April through June and September through early November are the most comfortable months for RV travel, with mild temperatures, lower humidity, and vivid spring or fall foliage. Summer brings warm, humid weather and the busiest campground weekends, so reservations should be made well in advance. Winter is mild but occasionally freezing, and some trails can be muddy after rain. Shoulder seasons typically offer quieter campsites and easier access to trailhead parking.

Sulphur Springs Trail is a roughly 4-mile loop that climbs through hardwood forest past a restored CCC reservoir. Expect rocky sections and sustained climbs, with rewarding creek crossings and ridgetop views. Trailhead parking near Lake Placid accommodates standard vehicles and smaller RVs.
Lake Placid is a 13-acre CCC-built lake at the center of the park with a seasonal swim area and boat rentals. Visitors can paddle kayaks, canoes, and pedal boats on calm water surrounded by forested slopes. Paved parking near the lake fits day-use vehicles.
Brissy Ridge Trail is a popular ridgetop mountain biking and hiking route on the park's north side. The trail winds through pine and hardwood forest with moderate grades and smooth single-track. Parking is available at the Buckhorn Gate trailhead.
Kanuga Trail offers a shorter, scenic hike connecting to the larger park trail system. It is well-shaded and suitable for families looking for an easier outing. Access is from the main park road near the campground.
Turtle Rock Trail is a challenging route that climbs toward rocky overlooks on the flanks of Paris Mountain. Expect steep grades, switchbacks, and exposed roots. It is a favorite with experienced hikers and technical mountain bikers.
Anglers can fish for bass, bream, and catfish in the park's two lakes from the bank or small non-motorized craft. A valid South Carolina fishing license is required for adults. Parking areas near both lakes are RV accessible.
The park preserves Civilian Conservation Corps structures, including a stone bathhouse at Lake Placid and several picnic shelters. These make convenient day-use stops for RV travelers wanting a shaded lunch break. Paved loops serve the main picnic areas.

This was an incredible camping experience! It was the ideal way to camp, as we had always used tents before. It was fantastic that the RV was delivered and ready to use! There was ample space for my family to enjoy the room without feeling cramped. A big storm rolled in, and it was a great place to come together and use the appliances inside to cook dinner and watch a movie as a family. I highly recommend this rental for anyone seeking a great camping stay, and for anyone who has always wanted to try out the RV experience!

Paris Mountain State Park, SC, United States
The park sits about 6 miles north of downtown Greenville, roughly a 15-minute drive via State Highway 253. Charlotte, North Carolina is about 100 miles northeast (about 2 hours), Atlanta is about 150 miles southwest (roughly 2.5 hours), and Asheville is about 60 miles north (just over 1 hour). The closest major airport for fly-and-rent trips is Greenville-Spartanburg International (GSP), about 30 minutes away. RV drivers should note that the park entrance road is winding with steep grades and tight turns, so larger rigs should approach slowly and verify site length before booking.
