The Pinnacle Rock Overlook is a short walk from the main parking area to the base of the towering sandstone formation that gives the park its name. Visitors get sweeping views over the surrounding Appalachian ridges and the historic Bramwell coal town valley.
Jimmy Lewis Lake is a small stocked lake inside the park where anglers can fish for trout and other species from the shoreline. A valid West Virginia fishing license is required.
The park maintains several miles of wooded hiking trails that loop through ridgetop forest and past rock outcrops. Paths range from short walks near the overlook to longer, hillier routes for more experienced hikers.
Pinnacle Rock offers picnic shelters and tables set in shaded hardwood forest near the overlook and lake. It is a popular lunch stop for travelers on US 52 and for RV day trips from nearby campgrounds.
US Route 52 past the park is a curving Appalachian highway linking Bluefield, Bramwell, and the coalfields region. The drive showcases small historic coal towns, river valleys, and ridgeline views and pairs naturally with a stop at the overlook.
The nearby town of Bramwell is known for its collection of restored coal-baron mansions and small historic downtown. It makes an easy side trip from the park for travelers interested in West Virginia coal heritage.
The forested ridges around Pinnacle Rock support white-tailed deer, wild turkey, songbirds, and seasonal raptors. Quiet mornings along the trails and lake offer good chances for observation and photography.
