July and August offer the most reliable access, with open water for boat tours, long daylight hours, and tundra wildflowers in bloom. Shoulder periods in June and September are possible but depend on sea ice and weather, and boat operators run fewer trips. March and April bring stable sea ice and long daylight for snowmobile excursions from Iqaluit, though temperatures remain well below freezing. Mid-winter visits are limited by cold, wind, and short daylight.

The island's interpretive walking route passes the remains of Thule-era sod houses built partly from whalebone and stone. Visitors can see circular depressions, entrance tunnels, and nearby tent rings that mark centuries of winter occupation.
Licensed outfitters run guided boat trips across Frobisher Bay to the island in the open-water season. Tours typically include Inuit cultural interpretation, wildlife spotting, and a landing to explore the site.
In late winter and spring, outfitters lead snowmobile trips from Iqaluit across the sea ice to Qaummaarviit. Trips require cold-weather gear and experienced guides familiar with ice conditions.
The waters and shoreline around Qaummaarviit support seals, seabirds, and occasional whales during the summer. Binoculars and a camera are useful on the boat crossing and along the island's low coastline.
On-site signage and guide narration explain how Thule and later Inuit communities lived on the island, used marine mammals, and adapted to Arctic conditions. The park is managed as a cultural and archaeological site, so artifacts must stay in place.
The open views across Frobisher Bay, low tundra plants, and archaeological features make the island a strong photography destination in summer. Long Arctic daylight creates soft light well into the evening.

Qaummaarviit Territorial Park, NU, Canada
Qaummaarviit sits on an island in Frobisher Bay roughly 12 kilometres west of Iqaluit, with no road connection and no highway access from southern Canada. Iqaluit itself is not connected to the North American highway network, so travel by personal RV is not possible; visitors fly into Iqaluit International Airport (YFB) from Ottawa, Montreal, or other hub cities, then reach the park by chartered boat or snowmobile. RV renters planning a broader Canadian trip can base their road travel in southern provinces and add a fly-in extension to Nunavut. There are no tunnels, mountain passes, or RV road restrictions associated with this park because it is not road-accessible.
