Late spring through early fall (May to early October) is the best window for RV travel, when the campground, beach, and boat ramp are in full operation and daytime highs are comfortable for hiking and paddling. June through August brings the warmest weather and the busiest weekends, so midweek stays are easier on popular sites. Shoulder months like late April and October offer cooler nights, vivid fall color in the Appalachian foothills, and quieter trails, though swimming and some seasonal services may be limited.

Paddle or boat on 161-acre Dow Lake, the centerpiece of the park. Electric motors and limited-horsepower outboards are allowed, making the lake ideal for kayaks, canoes, and small fishing boats. A public boat ramp and trailer parking are available near the main day-use area.
Cool off at the park's sandy swimming beach on Dow Lake during the warmer months. The beach has a day-use parking lot with space for tow vehicles and is a short drive from the campground.
Strouds Run is a recognized mountain biking hub in southeast Ohio with singletrack looping through the forested hills above Dow Lake. The park's trails link toward Athens through the 21-mile Hockhocking Adena Bikeway, allowing longer rides into town.
Hike a network of forested trails that climb ridges, cross small streams, and circle parts of Dow Lake. Routes range from short lakeside walks to longer ridge loops connecting to Sells Park and city trails.
Cast for largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie, catfish, and saugeye from the bank or a small boat on Dow Lake. A valid Ohio fishing license is required for anglers 16 and older, and several shoreline access points are reachable from RV-friendly parking areas.
Enjoy lakeside picnic areas with tables and shelters near the beach and boat ramp. Several picnic areas have pull-through parking that can handle tow vehicles and small RVs.
Spot white-tailed deer, wild turkey, waterfowl, and woodland songbirds throughout the park. Early mornings along the lake and quieter trailheads give the best viewing opportunities.

Strouds Run State Park, OH, United States
The park sits about 8 miles northeast of Athens, Ohio, reached via U.S. 33 and local roads from the city. From Columbus it is roughly 75 miles (about 1 hour 20 minutes) southeast via U.S. 33, and from Parkersburg, West Virginia it is about 55 miles (1 hour 15 minutes) northwest via State Route 50 and U.S. 50. RV drivers should expect narrow, hilly, and winding park access roads with tight turns near the lake, so larger rigs should take approaches slowly and avoid shortcuts on county roads. The nearest major airport for fly-and-rent trips is John Glenn Columbus International Airport (CMH).
