Late spring through early fall, roughly May to September, is the most comfortable time to visit, with the driest weather, longer days, and calmer surf for beach walks and biking the Dune Trail. July and August bring the warmest temperatures and the biggest crowds in Westport, so nearby campgrounds book up well in advance. Shoulder months like April, May, and October offer quieter beaches and easier RV parking, though rain and wind are more common. Winter is popular for storm watching and razor clam digs, but expect steady Pacific rain and gusty conditions.

The Grays Harbor Lighthouse, adjacent to Westport Light State Park, is the tallest lighthouse in Washington and a key landmark of the park. Seasonal tours are offered by the local historical society. A short walk from the park connects visitors to the lighthouse grounds.
The paved Dune Trail runs along the shoreline and links Westport Light State Park with Westhaven State Park to the north. It is flat, accessible, and ideal for walking, jogging, and casual cycling with wide Pacific views.
Westport Light offers direct access to a long stretch of sandy Pacific beach popular for beachcombing. Visitors look for agates, driftwood, and shells, especially after winter storms. Keep an eye on tides and sneaker waves.
The exposed coastline at Westport Light is a prime spot for watching Pacific storms roll in during fall and winter. Bundle up for strong winds and driving rain, and stay well back from the surf line.
Adjacent Westhaven State Park, reachable by the Dune Trail, is one of the most popular surf breaks in Washington. Non-surfers can watch the action from the jetty and beach. Parking lots accommodate standard RVs.
The beaches near Westport are part of Washington's coastal razor clam fishery when seasons are open. Check the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife for approved dig dates and required licenses before heading out.
Dunes, shoreline, and nearby jetties at Westport Light host shorebirds, gulls, and seasonal migrants, with occasional sightings of seals and passing gray whales offshore. Bring binoculars for the best experience.

Westport Light State Park, WA, United States
Westport Light State Park is on the southern Washington coast at the south side of the entrance to Grays Harbor, reached via State Route 105. From Aberdeen it is roughly 22 miles and about 30 minutes by road; from Olympia it is about 75 miles and around 1 hour 45 minutes; from Seattle it is about 135 miles and 2.5 to 3 hours. The approach roads are generally flat coastal highways without mountain passes or major tunnels, but SR 105 is a two-lane route with sharp curves and wind exposure that can challenge larger RVs. The nearest major airport for fly-and-rent trips is Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA).
