Late April through June and September into October are generally the best months for RV travel, offering mild Ozark temperatures, leafed-out forest canopy, and flowing water levels on the War Eagle River. Summer brings warm, humid days that suit swimming and paddling, though July and August can be hot and busy on weekends. Fall delivers colorful hardwood foliage and cooler nights, a sweet spot for hiking the bluff trails. Winter is quiet with bare-tree views, but expect occasional freezes and reduced services.
Cold, occasional freezing rain or snow; reduced services possible

Fall foliage peaks mid to late month
Cool, quiet; hunting seasons active on nearby public lands

Float the War Eagle River, a scenic Ozark stream running through the park. Spring and early summer typically bring the best water levels for canoes and kayaks, with put-ins accessible from the park.
Hike a wooded trail that climbs to limestone bluff overlooks above the river. Sturdy footwear is recommended, as the path includes rocky sections and elevation changes.
Walk a shorter loop that winds through hardwood forest rich in dogwood and redbud. Spring bloom and fall color are the highlights along this easier hike near the campground.
Fish the War Eagle River for smallmouth bass, sunfish, and catfish. An Arkansas fishing license is required for anglers age 16 and older.
Cool off at the park's seasonal swimming pool and play a match on the on-site tennis courts. The pool typically operates between Memorial Day and Labor Day, weather and staffing permitting.
Relax at the developed campground and day-use picnic spots shaded by Ozark hardwoods. Sites accommodate a mix of RVs, trailers, and tents.
Drive a short distance to the historic War Eagle Mill, a working gristmill on the War Eagle River. The site is especially popular during its seasonal craft fairs.
We stayed over Memorial Day weekend with our family and had the BEST experience! We rented an RV for 3 adults and 3 kids, and it was the perfect size with plenty of room for everyone. Everything was super clean and fully stocked — pillows, bedding, and honestly anything you could possibly need was included. But our absolute favorite part was the outdoor kitchen. I genuinely don’t think we can ever rent an RV again without one now! The griddle was AMAZING and made cooking so easy and fun. We’ve officially become bougie RV campers now. 😂 Could not have asked for a better stay. Highly recommend!

Withrow Springs State Park, AR, United States
The park sits along State Highway 23 about 5 miles north of Huntsville, Arkansas. From Fayetteville it is roughly a 45 to 60 minute drive east via US-412 and AR-23, and from Rogers or Bentonville plan on about 1.25 to 1.5 hours. RV drivers should note that AR-23 north of Huntsville, the route locally known as the Pig Trail, includes tight curves, steep grades, and narrow shoulders through the Ozarks, so approaching from the south (Huntsville side) is preferable for larger rigs. Northwest Arkansas National Airport (XNA) near Bentonville is the closest major airport for fly-and-rent trips, roughly 60 miles west.
