Campgrounds and RV parks near Paintearth County No. 18, AB

Paintearth County No. 18 sits in east-central Alberta along the Battle River, midway between Stettler and the Saskatchewan border. The county is rural and lightly populated, which keeps campgrounds quiet and night skies dark. RV travellers use the area as a stop along Highway 12 or as a base for exploring Battle River country and the northern edge of the Canadian Badlands. The closest in-town option is Forestburg Golf Club & RV Park, a small-town site close to local services. Big Knife Provincial Park, on the Battle River between Donalda and Forestburg, offers a mix of open and treed sites for tents and RVs, walk-in tenting, a boat launch, and onsite sewage disposal. Sedgewick Lake Park Campground, near Sedgewick, has roughly 60 serviced and unserviced sites plus two mini-cabins. Farther east near Consort, Gooseberry Lake Provincial Park has power-and-water sites and a spray park. Little Fish Lake Provincial Park, southwest near Drumheller, gives access to the Red Deer River badlands.

Reservation rules vary by operator. Alberta Parks sites such as Gooseberry Lake accept reservations 90 days in advance of arrival through reserve.albertaparks.ca, with power-and-water sites bookable online and unserviced sites held first-come, first-served. Big Knife Provincial Park does not take reservations; all sites are first-come, first-served, so arriving by Thursday is wise for July and August weekends. Little Fish Lake Provincial Park is a small, basic prairie campground booked through Alberta Parks. Sedgewick Lake Park Campground is municipally operated and takes bookings by phone or online through the town's reservation page. Forestburg Golf Club & RV Park is booked directly with the operator. Long weekends fill earliest, so plan to book as soon as the 90-day window opens and have a backup for first-come parks.
