Campgrounds and RV parks near Invermere, BC

Invermere sits on the north shore of Lake Windermere in the Columbia Valley of southeastern British Columbia, between the Purcell Mountains to the west and the Canadian Rockies to the east. The town is roughly 15 minutes south of Radium Hot Springs and the south entrance of Kootenay National Park, which puts most of the region's campgrounds within a short drive. RV travellers have a mix of options nearby. Sun Valley RV Park sits along Highway 95 in the Columbia Valley, with easy access to Radium Hot Springs, Kootenay National Park, and the Columbia River wetlands. Dry Gulch Provincial Park is a small, shady campground on the east side of the Rocky Mountain Trench under the peaks of the Stanford Range, about 4.5 km south of Radium Hot Springs off Highway 93/95. Redstreak Campground, The Canyon RV Resort and Campground, and RidgeView Resort round out the closest options. Redstreak Campground sits on a sunny plateau above the village of Radium Hot Springs and holds 242 sites offering full-service, electric, and unserviced options, plus ten oTENTik tent cabins. Together, these campgrounds cover the range from full-service RV resorts to quiet provincial and national park sites.

Reservations at Kootenay National Park sites are handled through Parks Canada. Bookings can be made online or by phone, and reservations typically open in early January each year, so plan ahead if hoping to camp at Redstreak between May and October. Redstreak sites are reservable, with a maximum of six people and three units per site, and only one RV or trailer plus one vehicle permitted per site. A valid Parks Canada pass is required for all overnight visitors. Provincial park sites use a separate system. Dry Gulch campsite reservations are made through the BC Parks reservation system (Discover Camping). Eighteen of the 27 sites are reservable and nine are first-come, first-served. Private parks such as Sun Valley RV Park, The Canyon RV Resort and Campground, and RidgeView Resort take bookings directly through the operator, and summer weekends should be booked well in advance.
