Campgrounds and RV parks near Ellice-Archie, MB

Ellice-Archie is a rural municipality in Manitoba's Westman region, sitting on the Saskatchewan border about 300 kilometres west of Winnipeg. The area centres on the villages of McAuley and St. Lazare, with the Assiniboine and Qu'Appelle river valleys shaping the landscape. RV travellers use Ellice-Archie as a quiet prairie base within reach of Manitoba's Parkland region. Asessippi Provincial Park sits to the northeast on the south end of Lake of the Prairies, roughly 19 kilometres north of Russell and then west on PR 482. Fieldstone Campground and RV Resort lies a short drive west near Moosomin, Saskatchewan, just north of the Trans-Canada Highway. Other nearby options include Virden Lions Park Campground in the town of Virden, a straightforward stop for travellers moving along Highway 1, and Aspen Grove Campground. The mix of provincial park, town-run, and private campgrounds gives renters a range of hookup levels within an hour or so of the municipality.

Manitoba provincial park sites, including Asessippi, are reserved through the Manitoba Parks system at manitobaparks.com or by phone at 1-888-482-2267. The reservation service uses a staggered launch each spring: cabins, yurts, and group-use areas open in mid-April, followed by western-region campgrounds such as Asessippi a few days later. Seasonal campsites are allocated by a separate lottery earlier in the year. A Manitoba park vehicle permit is required to enter any provincial park and is separate from the campsite fee. Private campgrounds such as Fieldstone Campground and RV Resort and municipal sites like Virden Lions Park Campground book directly through the operator by phone, email, or their own website. For peak-summer weekends, book as far ahead as possible. Cancellations do free up sites close to arrival, so checking back is worthwhile if a preferred date is full.
