Campgrounds and RV parks near Rossburn, MB

Rossburn sits in western Manitoba's Parkland region, roughly midway between Riding Mountain National Park to the east and Asessippi Provincial Park to the west. RV travellers use the town as a base for two very different camping experiences: a busy federal park anchored by the Wasagaming townsite on Clear Lake, and a quieter provincial park on the Lake of the Prairies reservoir. Closest to town, Sandy Lake Motel and Campground offers serviced RV sites with power, water, an on-site dump, showers, and laundry. Farther east inside Riding Mountain National Park, Wasagaming Campground is the park's main reservable campground with over 400 sites, open from mid-May to mid-October, while Moon Lake Campground operates as a smaller, self-registration option. To the west, Asessippi Provincial Park runs a large multi-loop campground on the Shellmouth Reservoir with a mix of unserviced, electric, and yurt sites. All three park systems draw heavy summer demand from Winnipeg, Brandon, and Saskatchewan, so advance planning matters.

Reservations use three separate systems. Manitoba Parks handles Asessippi through manitobaparks.com or by phone at 1-888-482-2267, with a staggered spring rollout: cabins, yurts, and group use areas open first, followed by western-region campgrounds including Asessippi later that week. Seasonal sites are awarded by lottery with a February application cutoff. Parks Canada handles Wasagaming Campground through the Parks Canada Reservation Service, with the recent reservation launch set for late January. All frontcountry reservations at Wasagaming are site-specific. Moon Lake Campground requires self-registration, with payment accepted by cash, cheque, or credit card, and a valid national park pass is required.
