Campgrounds and RV parks near Swan Valley West, MB

Swan Valley West sits in western Manitoba's Swan River Valley, framed by the Porcupine Hills to the north and the Duck Mountains to the south. The area draws RV travellers looking for boreal-forest lakes, quiet provincial parks, and long summer daylight, with most named campgrounds clustered within an hour's drive of the community. Duck Mountain Provincial Park protects roughly 1,424 square kilometres of boreal forest, rolling hills, and more than a dozen clear lakes, and includes Baldy Mountain, the highest point in the province at approximately 831 metres. The spring-fed waters of Blue, Childs, Wellman and Singuish Lakes are legacies of ancient glacial times. Childs Lake sits inside Duck Mountain Provincial Park and offers lake-front sites suited to trailers and motorhomes. Whitefish Lake Provincial Park and Bell Lake - Bell Lake Provincial Park add smaller, quieter alternatives closer to the valley floor. For travellers pushing further west, Townsend Lake - Woody River Provincial Rec Site provides a rustic option near the Saskatchewan boundary. Together these parks cover a range of camping styles, from electrical sites with services to basic backcountry-style stays.

Manitoba Parks manages and maintains the Duck Mountain campgrounds, reservations are required, and campsites tend to fill quickly, so booking early is important. Reservations run through the Manitoba Parks website or by phone at 1-888-482-2267. The park system uses a staggered launch spread over five days, and campers should create an account and review policies, photos, and descriptions before the launch date. Childs Lake and Blue Lakes open on the Western Region launch day alongside Wellman Lake and other western parks. Electrical sites at Childs Lake and the Duck Mountain loops move first. Basic and walk-in sites hold longer, and a share of sites is typically kept as first-come, first-served. Townsend Lake - Woody River Provincial Rec Site generally operates without a reservation system and is claimed on arrival. Bring the licence-plate details of the towing vehicle and RV, plus a valid credit card, before starting the online booking.
