Hiking dominates the outdoor calendar. Winter closes the provincial gates, though day-use trails remain accessible for snowshoeing.

The campsites at La Manche are RV-friendly for vehicles up to 35 feet, and arriving early helps for a waterfront spot. Each Butter Pot campsite features a picnic table, fireplace and space for a vehicle, with many accommodating larger RVs. Amenities vary by park. Butter Pot has several potable water spigots and modern restrooms, and there are also two comfort stations with laundry facilities. La Manche offers 82 forested campsites, with 27 on 15/30/50-amp service, plus picnic tables, campfire rings, showers, a dump station, boardwalks and two scenic hiking trails. Expect cool, damp mornings, boreal forest cover, black-fly season in June, and dogs on leash throughout. Cell coverage is reliable near Mount Pearl and patchier at La Manche.
