Campgrounds and RV parks near Aumond, QC

Fishing and paddling dominate the area. Réserve faunique La Vérendrye holds the largest canoe-camping network in Quebec, with more than 800 kilometres of developed routes, roughly 20 lakefront circuits and around 500 backcountry sites, plus walleye and northern pike in its lakes and reservoirs. Lac Joinville in Papineau-Labelle has a sandy beach and a family-oriented fishing-camping package, and the reserve also offers more than 60 kilometres of easy and intermediate hiking trails. Lac Phillipe in Gatineau Park adds supervised sandy beaches, canoe rentals and a dense network of hiking and cycling trails close to Ottawa-Gatineau. Wildlife viewing is strong throughout: moose, beaver, black bear and white-tailed deer are common in the surrounding reserves.

The drive-in camping season near Aumond is short. Gatineau Park's Philippe Lake campground typically operates from mid-June to mid-October, Sépaq's La Vérendrye campgrounds run from roughly mid-May to late September, and Camping Lac Joinville in Papineau-Labelle is open from late May to mid-September. Late May and June bring blackflies and mosquitoes but also wildflowers, vivid greens and good odds of seeing moose before crowds arrive. July and August are warm and busy; weekends at Gatineau Park's Philippe Lake and the serviced La Vérendrye sites fill quickly, and Friday and Saturday nights must be reserved together during the summer peak at Gatineau Park. September brings cool nights, fewer bugs and strong fall colour through the maple and yellow-birch forest. From November through April most front-country campgrounds are closed, though Gatineau Park keeps a limited winter ready-to-camp offer in the Philippe Lake sector, accessible only by ski or snowshoe.

Roads into the reserves are largely unpaved forest roads, and Sépaq warns that GPS apps often misroute drivers, so follow the directions provided with the reservation and watch trailer height and clearance. Sites at Lac de la Vieille include semi-serviced and three-service options suitable for larger RVs, while Lac Joinville is tents-only with a sanitary dump station and non-potable water. Lac Phillipe has a central sani-dump and a mix of unserviced and ready-to-camp options, with strict equipment-size limits at many sites. Cell service is patchy or absent inside the reserves. Carry drinking water, bug protection and a printed reservation. Gatineau Park does not allow outside firewood, and open fires can be banned without notice during high fire-danger periods.
