Activities around Cayamant are built around lakes, forest and Quebec's wildlife-reserve system. The municipal area offers hunting, fishing, hiking trails, observation towers, water sports and wilderness camping. Lac Cayamant itself is used for swimming, paddling and small-boat fishing. In Gatineau Park to the south, Philippe Lake has sandy beaches, canoe rentals and a wide trail network, and reopened to campers in 2026 after a multi-year modernization. Inside La Vérendrye, thousands of lakes are accessible for fishing, with walleye, lake trout, northern pike, brook trout, smallmouth bass and sturgeon, and more than 800 km of maintained canoe routes connect roughly 20 established circuits with around 500 backcountry campsites. Cell coverage is patchy through much of the area. Lac Phillipe is the most developed nearby option, with modernized comfort stations, showers and dump facilities, plus 30 sites with electricity and water and 10 mini-chalets after recent upgrades. Recreational drone use is restricted at Sépaq sites, and dogs must be leashed where permitted. Pack drinking water, bug spray, firewood from a local source, and extra fuel; the nearest full-service towns are Gracefield and Maniwaki.
